OK, everyone...I *think* I've packed everything save what I'll make tomorrow (sandwiches), so it's time to see if I can get any sleep and then see what the day brings. One foot in front of the other... Thanks for all your good wishes: good luck to everyone racing this weekend! More sometime after, no doubt!

My Mojo is also gone, Kristen...

Well. I skipped my race.  I feel like I did my annual tri in Aug.  I had thought that I would do 2 this year, but I just feel burnt out and need to make some changes for a few months.  I mostly love tri training, but racing is challenging for me at this point.  Some days I'm up for a challenge, others not so much.

My current plan is to up the strength training (You Are Your Own Gym-book-beginner 10 wk plan), continue walking and biking and run occasionally.  I'll probably also swim from time to time.  I'm really focussing on what I eat and it seems to be working slowly.  I'm seeing weights that I haven't seen in years.

I hope you'll still let me stick around as I'm not quitting tri, just mixing things up a bit for Fall.

I think most of us are reaching that point of no mojo... the season is winding down, the weather is beginning to change and we are reaching the end of our race seasons.  Now is the time to look back and evaluate what you can do better for NEXT year.  Do some fun races, or mix it up with your training.  For me it's a lot of run focus, and this year I vow not to neglect my bike like I did last off season!  Work on your base, take more rest days, and not feel guilty about it!!

I hear you!  It's always good to shake things up a bit.  Keeping up a fitness/training routine is tiring stuff.  Good for us but tiring.  Good luck with your change of pace.

Sunday was a lovely day for a race in DC.  Temps in the 70's and clear blue skies.

My race report is here.

Ok swim.  Tired legs bike.  But a pretty darn good run (don't know how I did this based on how my legs felt on the bike).

So if anyone would like to do Nation's Tri...feel free to think about staying at our house.

This is a big race with big race feel.  Nation's Capital.  What more can I say.  It's hard not to have a good day when you begin by standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial before sunrise and look out across the Reflecting Pool to the Washington Monument.  Great country we live in!

OMG they finally posted the race results, and I actually placed 1st in my group- but only because it was a small field and I registered as an Athena this time. I kinda feel like I shouldn't have done that, even though I'm more than qualified, if you know what I mean. In the 45-49 AG, I would have been 8th out of 9! Probably more what I deserved.

Dang girl!!  Are they mailing you your bling??  And if you qualify for Athena you qualify, no need to apologize!!  Funny how some of the races you think were your worst go that way...

She's right - if you qualify, you qualify.  Don't ever feel bad about it!

More importantly, congratulations!!

Also, BIG congrats to all of our racers this weekend.  It sounds like a very successful almost end of the season was had by all, even those who faced some adversity.  Great job everyone!!

Hi everyone!

Thanks for all the inspires and good wishes-- I'm so sorry that it's taken me so long to get back on and to post a race report (which is now up in my log, and it's a long one, so feel free to make a cup of coffee and get comfy before you start reading it!). I did indeed finish with plenty of time, though as you'll see, some dramatic incidents made a few unforeseen twists in the tale. Travel and recovery have been the main events recently-- drove back to my sister's place in CT from Montreal, and am recovering nicely. I'm hoping to do an easy spin on a bike at her gym tomorrow morning; we'll see!

Will get caught up on all your posts and doings tomorrow, but wanted to get this race report done and up so you could see it-- enjoy!

MMMers ROCK!!

Alex

Aww, thanks! That's awfully nice of you: I think anyone who's out there training and/or competing, no matter the distance, is a hero. It's way too easy to give up or to roll over and go back to sleep on a regular basis, after all! Anyone who says "yes, I can" to something new and challenging is a hero to me...

Just got caught up on forum posts: CONGRATS, Tammy, on your amazing finish! Way to rock the place! And loud cheers for all the racers this past weekend: proving once again that MMMers rock! I agree, too, on the fact that the end of the season can be a good time to reflect and change things up for a while...but that could be due to the fact that reflection's really the only "training" I'm able to do right now... Happy Friday, and I hope you all have lovely weekends!

Just catching back up on everything.  Way to go Tammy on your 1st place finish (no need to downplay it, you are awesome in my book)!

Huge congrats to Alex.  What an inspiration - you're an IRONMAN and you rock!

Now off to read the race reports!

I'm heading out on Saturday for my big ride with TammyT and Hilde!

Well LOUISE is going for a big ride.... Tammy and I are sweating doing the 50!  Unfortunately the way they have set up the bike routes, the century ride detours from the 50 mile ride at about 16 miles.  I'm gonna look at the maps again and see if we can maybe modify and go a bit further with Louise and her hubby and then pick up another route later on, but I'm thinking it won't work unless we want to go for the full 100 which I don't think is possible... I would like to be able to walk to my car and drive us home when we are done!!

Have fun on your rides Louise and Hilde!  Hope the weather is great for you.

I've been mostly just doing my bicycle commuting for the past two weeks.  Kind of resting after what's been a long season.  I'll try to get a run in on Sunday but who knows maybe I'll just rest some more!

Have a wonderful bike ride, Louise, Tammy, and Hilde! Hope the weather cooperates no matter which route you take! Am off to visit friends in MA tomorrow afternoon, so might get a quick reconnoitering ride on a new bike trail near here with my sister before I go...we'll see. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Fab photo-- lookin' gorgeous, ladies! Hope the ride was fun, and hope that everyone's doing well now that fall is upon us-- I'm back into training, even if that means ridiculously slowly right now...better than none at all, though, right? I tell myself that whenever I feel like a total wuss...

Well with a very "iffy" race, with thunderstorms going on till the very last minute, Louise and I both showed up and did the MMMer's proud, we both brought home 1st place AG medals!!  Of course Louise passed me on the run, but then whe was able to cheer me in!  Still waiting on official results from the timing company, and if this is the one I'm thinking of, they are notoriously late getting them up, so race report will follow, check my blog!
