Since just returning back from Afghanistan a few weeks ago, because of getting tore up I would have to say:

1. have surgerys

2. rehab and get stronger

3. train

4. complete HIM by years end

No time goals this year, just complete it. If I have to walk the entire 13.1, I'll do it.

Thank you, sir, for you service..

6 races for me!  MAYBE 7.  2 HMs, 2 sprints, and 2/3 Olys.  Within all that, learning another swim stroke and a consistent sub-24:00 or better 5K in a sprint tri. =)

I think this has probably been done already, but what are your goals for the upcoming year?

Mine:
3:45:00 or better at the Rock N Roll USA Marathon (DC)
3:34:00 or better at Steamtown (PA) - BQ

And you will Ironbushy!!

PR at HIM, PR at IM.   hey, I'm aiming high. Wink

Wow!!!!....this is depressing to think about for me. I had some lofty goals as the season ended last year. Between then and now my job changed drastically for the worse and I've ended up putting waaaaaaaay more time at work than I planned for! I'm going to stick with those goals though, even if I fail.

1. Sub 40 min HIM swim at Racine
2. Sub 5:30 total HIM at Racine
3. Podium in my AG a local sprint tri (Naperville)
4. Have more fun this year and quit getting hung up on unrealistic goals

I REALLY wanted to make the HIM championships, but I don't think that will be realistic for me this season so I'll be happy with 5:30 or better at Racine.

X2 on IMWI, however, I might be a bit biased since I grew up just off the course. Great IM to have as your first! See you there as well and don't forget to drop in on the IMWI forum as well.

Can't believe I'm about to say this out loud, but my pie-in-the-sky stretch goal is to KQ at IMWI next Sept.  I've actually started swimming again (sort of) thinking of that goal.  (That's how much I want it -- I'm willing to swim.)

1 international distance finishing in the top 50%

I reserve the right to add a bid for marathon PR in the fall depending on how my tri season goes.

1Loose 20 lbs (was 15lb up until the past two months :*)

2) Commute at least 50 days (okay, considering I only did 2 this year, that REALLY is a big goal.  I'll be happy is I can at least get 30 - that'll pay off the $80 bike I bought this year to commute on   )

3) Bike 1,000 miles (that's double this year - but then I didn't spend a whole lot of time biking either)

4Run 500 miles (should be doable considering goal #5)

5) Run my FIRST marathon!!

6) Swim 75,000 yds (that's more than double this year - gotta get to master's!!)

I have other time goals, but I'm hopeful that if I can meet these goals, then the rest will fall into place

Ok, love goal threads.   Here are mine, in no specific order of importance:

1.  Finally get to my goal weight--this will take some major tweaking to my diet, specifically cutting sugar out.  I just have ten pounds to lose, but these ten pounds have not budged and I know it's due to my sugar habit.

2.  Run the Salt Lake City Marathon in April and redeem my awful experience from 2008...I went into it undertrained and overweight and it was AWFUL.  I'm ready to go back and do it justice.

3.  Run a first ever indoor half marathon....47 laps around an olympic ice oval.  Why not? (just to clarify...this will be the first indoor half I've run,  I've run dozens of half marys outdoors!)

4.  Do an Olympic tri this summer, plus whatever other tris might come my way throughout June, July, August or September!

5.  Stay injury free. The only thing that could give me problems is my left butt cheek piriformis...it flares up now and again.

1. Sprint tri in November

2. Run continuously for at least 30 mins

3. Build my bike speed to 8mph

4. Be more consistent with ST - do more balanced/whole body stuff

5. Be more consistent with yoga - hopefully building up to something more advanced than my current dvd

6. Be able to do pull ups

Um, I think that's about it. I'm possibly doing a 10k the month before my tri but I'm not totally sure yet - it may end up being another 5k.

First year of running, biking, and swimming!

So whatever I do, I will PR! But no, I do have some goals:

half marathon under 1h40

olympic triathlon under 2h30

maybe a 5k under 20min.

  • Sub 20:00 5k

My personal/life/job goals interfere with any other athletic goals next year, so I'll post some cause they do tie in

  • Move/transfer to Wisconsin
  • Get used to training in humidity again
  • Get training back on track
  • Find duathlons in SE WI.  I might be able to do the same du I've done for 4 years here depending on when I move.
  • Buy a cross bike to commute in weather.  Commuting 12 months of the year on a fender-free road bike probably won't cut it in WI.  Maybe even do a cross race next year.  Probably not though...
