If anyone is interested in Door County, I received an email not too long ago saying they were at 60% capacity... They cap at 1000 sprinters and 1000 halfers...  Get on it! (It's a super fun half if you're on the edge!)

I really recommend it. Definitely a great half iron, anyway!

Ooo Ooo, new email today: less than 200 spots left! Get you're before they're gone!!

I'm looking at Maple Grove Tri for August. Is this a good one for a beginner?  I did two sprints last year, looking to do 4 this year..

So Far I'm booked for

Lake Minnetonka Tri - June
Tri Tonka - July (Registration is not open yet)
Maple Grove Tri - August (Not yet registered)
Looking for a good on for Sept. - Any suggestions?

Als,

I looked at the Lake Minnetonka Tri website this morning.  It said there were a limited number of charity spots available for individuals for $100.00 if anyone is interested..

I DO think the Maple Grove Tri is good for a beginner (which you're not really anymore, by the way...)   There were a lot of newbies there, anyway.  You should do it!  There will also be a strong LUNA Chix presence, if that helps.

Also, a fun option for September is the St Croix Triathlon in Hudson. There's a monster hill on the bike, so that plays to your cycling strength.  The swim is kind of strange, out and back in the river and very shallow.  The run is 4 miler (not my favorite).  But a cool race, vibe, etc.  I highly recommend it.

I forgot about that one!  Thank you.  Looks like that should round out my schedule!!  Oh yeah, also doing the Tour De Tonka century ride in August...

One Last Tri is in September as well. Didn't you do that one last year?

Didn't do it, I can't remember why, but if it was the same course at "My first tri" I would have deemed it too hilly for me!  (I know weak huh?)

Square Lake is in Sept. The sprint is on Saturday (long course is on Sunday). I did the short course in 2010 and the long course last year. Frontrunner takes some heat for skimping on swag (amongst other things) and if you don't mind getting your shirt 2 months late, then I'd recommend either race.

Thinking about doing the inaugural Blaine Tri on May 19th - sprint only.  Anyone else doing it or thinking about it?

Anyone looking at doing the "Take the Hill" triathlon down at Gustavus?  4/28, nice short sprint, I get the feeling it's more of a beginner oriented crowd.  I was going to do Morris that day, but I went to school at Gustavus and would love to race there.

For the first time in years, Timberman (in Grand Rapids, MN) hasn't filled up, so if anyone was thinking about doing it, registration will close tomorrow 3/16. Race day is Saturday, 7/14.  It's a well-run race in pretty country.
