Part of me is a little sad, but I hopped on the scale the other night and I was down to 205.  This means that since October I've lost around 20lbs...  I'm shooting for a target weight around 187-192 and will probably float to just below 200lbs when it isn't training time.

I've decided I need to buy a few new pairs of pants once I drop under 200lbs as most of my pants are falling off now.

Great job!  I'm a clyde for life @ 250#.  Even when I get to race weight I'm at 235-240, so ya'll are stuck with me.

I applaud anyone that can break that barrier.  Keep up the good work!

Well I did it about 10 days ago but have been right on the cusp with normal weight fluctuation. Last night was the first night that I weighed myself under 200lbs before bed. Pretty awesome feeling. This makes 28lbs since mid-Oct. my primary focus was obviously training, but a few small changes in diet also helped. What has been the craziest is the clothing changes. I went from a 36" waist to a 33" waist that fast.

congrats on losing your status.  I am just embarking on my journey and was wondering if I could get some insights from you more experienced athletes.  I am completely new to Tris and plan to do my first Sprint Express in April (completed my first 5k a couple weeks ago and got a couple others in the coming weeks leading up to the Tri in April).  Currently built like a lineman, 6'4" 330 and want to get some insights on where I can find a reasonably priced wetsuit that I can use until I drop some lbs and it doesn't fit me anymore (I hope).  Any thoughts on cut, thickness, etc... would be great.  For at least this year, I don't foresee getting outside of Southern California for a race.

Thanks for the insights and guidance and help to an incoming Clydesdale.

Great job man,

I hate to rain in your parade but now might be the difficult part... keeping it off.  It happened to me.

All I can say is, stay off the carb bandwagon.

Great job, and good luck to you.  Listen to the voice of experience.

I am at 206 now after having reached 189 from 225, some roller coaster ride but I don't give up.

Congrats on the weight loss. I was there at the end of last season. I got down to 205 and thought that I would just keep going but December hit and my kids got sick which meant that I couldn't get to the gym consistently to work off all the over eating from the holidays. About two weeks ago, my youngest finally shook off his latest cold and I've been back working out. I got all the way up back up to 225, but now I'm coming back down again slowly. If you continue to workout and watch your eating then you'll never come back to the club. I'll probably be a permanent member. I'm 6'3" and at my peak I was 265.

Keep up the good work, I was suprised when I almost broke the 200 mark this winter, unfortunately for me I was going up instead of down. Just to warn you though, leaving the Clydes isn't always a good thing, the age groups are usually bigger down here.

The most important piece of advice I can provide is consistency.  It will be a long consistent effort that will help you drop the weight, but it will come.  Some times it will drop like a rock, and other times it will float up a bit.  But long slow workouts with some basic changes in diet will put you on the right path.  Expect that you will be hungry at times and that it is ok to eat, but try to eat healthy smaller meals.  I've never been a fast food person so that wasn't an issue for me.  Increasing your veggie and fiber intake will help...

I had the benefit of being a long time athlete who took a long break (12 years) and let myself slide a bit...  I didn't have that much to drop but enough that I feel 100 times better.  Keep a journal or a blog of your progress and take pictures along the way.  While it will seem slow at first, the before/after will be a great reminder on the progress you've made.
