Taking a rare total day OFF!  Enjoyed the 5 hour trip home from Las Vegas--now I'm going to love up my two girlies that I missed so much.

I can read French reasonably well, if it's, say, Dumas instead of Derrida. Almost well enough to correct what you wrote but je suis heureuse.

and Linear Algebra! the memories!

************

Dumas pere is infinitely more readable and enjoyable than Derrida.   But Deconstruction for the sake of deconstructing is a hoot.  One can be gleefully wicked with that critical lens.

after 4 days of "home" chiropractic (read my wife walking on the trouble spot) finally alleviated the back isssue that had me grounded all week.  3 miler in new shoes :-)

as an asside, I'm feeling lazy this winter. I've decided to train up for a half mary, but the run focus feels like I'm cheating myself.

Also, tried the first of 3 drills I saw on youtube about how to do open turns properly. Until the latest thread that turned into a flip turn vs. open turn showdown, I assumed an open turn meant you swim to the end, don't touch the wall and sort of turn around or something. I didn't know it was a technique. After such heated debate I figured I should look into the whole open turn business and I realise it's what I should be doing, instead of grabbing the wall, pulling myself around, then turning around to continue. Since I'm still too freaked out to do flip turns, open turns look like a good thing for me to learn.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I watched those videos, too, and came to the same conclusion. Flip turns make me so dizzy and disoriented -- I'm afraid to try them anymore. But those open turns, I think I could manage. I've started the first drill.

So that was the thread that got pulled. I was wondering. Sealed

Got in a great 1300yd swim in at 6am despite forgetting my towel and using paper towels and a hand dryer to dry off, 40 min trainer ride scheduled for after work.

Have a great day.

I had to do that Tuesday morning -- it was still a very chilly walk out to the car. I won't forget my towel again, I hope.

Fingers crossed that posting this doesn't jinx me...seems to usually. (So, I probably shouldn't do it, but you folks are the only ones who care about my workouts.)

Strength workout is done.

Speed workout (9x400) on the track later this evening. Is it just me, or is it totally cool to run on the track after dark? (As long as you don't trip over the errant starter block.)

I love the track after dark. But it might just be you and me.

My marathon program called for 4 miles....that's what I gave.  It now calls for 2 days rest before a 1/2 marathon....that's what I'm going to do.  I'm not feeling burned out, and not particularly tired....it just feels like February....I bet even God hates February.

Slept in a little, only slept 5.5 hours.  So morning run was out.  Ran 7.2 miles at lunchtime.  After work it was Thrsty Thursday, so had 2 wheat beers with my co-workers, then went to masters swim.  Swam for an hour then went to have more beer, and pizza.  It's almost midnight and I want to catch that 6:00 AM spin class tomorrow morning.  We'll see .....

I feel you there.  It's been chilly.  Looking forward to spring.

I ran a weekly 8.2 miler today.  I took 1:20 seconds off of my pace.  I am training for a May marathon that I ran the last two years and am going for a 3:30 or below pr.  I am 3 weeks ahead of time from last year based on my pace today.  Things are great.
