  • 3.11 miles

Comments:

started in the back as usual, next to Adam, because I hate being passed. Adam wasin front of me for about a half mile, told myself to keep up with him because we both want to hit 30. But... my body shocked me and I passed him, hit the one mile mark at 9:16 which was a big PR for me, fastest mile in a race ever. I let out a whoop there and people thought I was nuts. Second mile I took it down a bit, thinking I'll go harder on the last mile. Second mile split was 10.03, guess I took it down too much, but I did stop for water, dumped more on my head than I drank. It was HOT (seen my weather reports lately on top of the blog?) Later proved to be a mistake. Hit the turnaround like an airplane which usually freaks out the volunteer standing there. I'm weird. Or high on endorphins. Or delirious from dehydration. Anywasy hit the water station again on the way back. Dumped water again. What's the matter wit me?? I passed so many people I scared myself. Yay, turning into the parking lot. Almost there!! NO>>> gotta go around the back of the big ass movie theater and back into the parking lot. tried to pick it up, but my legs were burning since mile 2.x, and my feet were falling asleep. Picked it up once the line was in sight, Jeff and Jessica cheering me on, my running club did a wave for me.... it was a nice finish. They all jumped on me at the finish for a high five, awwww.... I love that club.
What would you do differently?:

the bottom of my feet are falling asleep. Shoe store guy says I might need looser shoes, to come in and he'll check it out. Shoe store girl says my yanks are too tight. (they were there, chatted with them). I'll try to wear the asics that I bought last year and only wore a few times, they have a wider toebox. We'll see. Now to work on keeping a steady pace.
Post race
Warm down:

pant, pant, kid hug, pant, water.... went to watch Adam and Terri finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the heat and numb feet.

Event comments:

took a bit too long to get the awards started. No gatorade, just that really gross powerade.

Great work Christine. I was trying to keep up with you also, maybe next time. You did get me smiling when I saw you doing the airplane on the turn around. Who cares what the voluteers think, as long as they give me some water. It felt awesome seeing other BTers during the race, always a booster. Keep it up, sub 30 is in both of our futures. Although if this would have been chip timed you might have done it.... very close.
