Ok, so I admit to being the harriest person on the planet.  Lets just say that the last 3 Halloweens, I dressed as Chewbacca, and I didn't even have to buy a costume.

The question I have is whats with all the shaving?  Does it make that much of a difference?  Is it a comfort thing?  I just don't get it.

It feels good.

It looks good.

My wife likes it. (don't really need to say more....but)

It feels faster in the water.

X3 ^

but what started me on shaving was having to pull 5 bandages off twice a day for a week. Bandages come off a LOT easier when they're not attached to hair.

And sunscreen goes on a lot smoother; it doesn't clump on hair. Not a huge factor, but it helps.

I haven't shaved yet but now I'm thinking about it.  It's been 5 days now, road rash sucks!

I definitely try to make it look like I shaved...I hate being hairy in a tri suit, just looks wrong.

In matters of principle, stand on your own

In matters of style... go with the flow.

If you're in a group of cyclist and you're the only one sporting fur- you better be putting the hurt on the rest of the guys.

I shaved once. In grown hairs made me look like I had bad acne. Plus I am so damn hairy it takes me over an hour to get it done.

So you are the one ahead of me...nice to meet you.

Never shaved.  Do you guys shave arms too?  Not sure about all that...I think my wife would laugh at me for a couple days straight...until I grew all my fur back.

I shave face daily because my beard chaffs my wife's ....  I shave my head every other day because nature has already done most of the work.  At the risk of being anti-cyclist, I leave the legs au naturale.  Don't do the legs because (beyond the kinda creepy factor) it's a lot of body to shave and I just don't have enough day in my time for all that.

I started shaving where my tri shorts covered cause I didn't like the hairs sticking out. Then one day shaving that I thought i might as well try it all the way to see how it felt. I liked it and now my wife does too. And I also like that it makes people feel uncomfortable when I tell them about it.

Ask your SO how they feel about it.

Shaving would give my husband a one way ticket to the couch.

My wife makes fun of my patchy beard and mustache. Other than that, just a little manscaping. I'm pretty hairless chest down. If I had hair that could seen more than 2 feet away, I might consider it. Heck, I only need to shave my face twice a week.

Simply put to signify your allegiance to the tribe. That and, it feels great when you slip into bed with new sheets. Helps deals with road rash. Makes lower body work easier if you ever get message. And last but not least after a long run or ride it looks awesome.

easy. just get a hair clipper (Wahl) and start manscaping.

you can finish it off with a razor to make it look more acceptable.

atleast that's what I do...

I don't shave, at all.  My face yes but only that  And I've won age group awards and even an overall 2nd.  Just never had the interest.  Don't really care if someone thinks I look weird with hair on my chest and a tri singlet or hair on my leg and in tri shorts.  More power to you all who do it though.

I shave because the piglets object otherwise ...

Actually, I haven't shaved since before IM Melbourne (3/25) and realized two things: 1) I've never let my body hair grow out, and 2) it almost doesn't make a difference because I'm a highly hairless Asian. You'd have to be pretty close and look really hard to tell.

That said, I usually shave my nethers because there's less friction and irritation when doing lots of cycling.

I shave my lower leg hair a few times a year, usually before races. It's so fine that it doesn't wax well.

I usually shave the armpits once every couple of weeks because that's when I can see and feel it, and I don't like the feeling. I also wonder if it would cause the pits to rub more during long-distance swimming.
