Just want to know what the general opinion is on the wheel builder aero covers?  Is this a worthwhile investment or am I best saving up for a dedicated rear disc wheel?

I couldn't be happier with mine.  I just tried it out last weekend and it worked great.  It was a sinch to install and, while it may have added some weight, even on a hilly course I sure didn't notice it during the race.  If you already have an aero-helmet, this should be your next purchase to increase your aero-ness.

not to hijack the thread, but what wheel do you use on the front with the disc on the back....zipps, HEd etc or are you using the stock regular spoked wheel in the front...usually I see a carbon wheel such as those on the front with a wheel cover on the back.

Do not have the money for a deep front wheel, so I still run the stock box rim.  Less aero benefit, but there's only so much the budget will allow for.  For $89 though, I couldn't pass up having the aero benefit at the back.

actually , thanks for sharing that, because thats probably what I would have to do with my stock FELT B16 wheels or wife may take me to court lol......I just didnt want to look silly, but glad to hear someone else does it.

S80 front & rear. You don't have to go super expensive on the front.

Anyone heard of FLO wheels? They are relatively new and are having problems getting products on the market, but their wheels are ridiculously cheap (compared to other aero wheels). I think I am going to save up some money and get some of these once the company gets into full production.

Having gone from no disc to a disc I'd say you'd be hard-pressed to find a better way to spend <$100 for speed on the bike, once you have the essentials in place (pedals/cleats, aero bars, other much-debated items).

The disc cover is free (well $89) speed. It will make you faster. I love mine. You may need to purchase the tool to take off your cassette as well which will put you over $100 but it is still money well spent.

I love my wheelcover and the price to speed ratio compared to other accessories ya can't beat. As for the people who bought a disc cover.... why would you buy a cover for your disc wheel?

As far as the disc cover goes they are great product for a tight budget.  Even With the little added weight they are still hugely beneficial on a aerodynamic standpoint. As for the FLO wheels they are a small company trying to market budget wheels. From the reviews and what Ive read you are getting a box section wheel with a carbon fiber fairing offered in different depths. That being said if you are weight weenie i.e you are overly worried about the weight of the wheels these are probably not for you. From a triathlon standpoint once you get them rolling you have the advantage of the aero shape and therefore I find the results to outweight (no pun intended) the affects of the added weight.

How reliable are the wheelbuilder fasteners? Do they stay secure?  I hate for one or two of those to pop off or break.  Are they plastic?

They are plastic but screw together - I haven't had any issues.  Some people forgo the fasteners and tape the cover to their rim, but this is more intended for a carbon rim.  A standard box rim has no room to do this - at least not that I've been able to figure out.

the plastic fasteners are more than strong enough to hold them together since I have had mine and I haven't had any of the come loose or fall off.

I use the fasteners plus I tape one side to the spokes... Also, if I remember correctly, they send you a few extra... It's not like building a swingset where extra parts is a bad thing

A pure box rim may have some issues with tape, but if the wheel has any depth at all the tape option is much superior, IMO.  You can achieve a much flatter disc with tape than you can with the screws.
