Haters are going to hate.  Seriously.....the thought of stripping anyone of titles 10 years after the fact is sad cause who wants to be declared winner by default so long after the race?

The tests are not conclusive and my guess is that those who are testifying may have motive....he is a polarizing figure in sport.

"Simple answer, it was a CONSPIRACY. Thats the only explanation as to how Lance couldve elluded us so long." This message brought to you by the dopes at the USADA.

I don't think it tarnishes cycling. I think it tarnishes the USADA. Feds dropped their case because there was no evidence. These jokers don't follow due process.

Just to keep it fair... Feds dropped their case because there was not sufficient evidence to prosecute for fraud.... a little different.

OK, so after doing some reading... I don't get it.

There are the 6 "B" samples tested later by the newspaper that were positive. That we know.

USADA say the blood samples taken during the 2009, 2010 season were consistent with EPO/transfusions... OK, so that is a positive test from 2009 and 2010.... when he was racing. So why then was he not popped then for a positive test... during competition no doubt?

As far as the "B"samples that is old news, as it seems the other old news as well... what is the deal with the 2009/2010 tests?

If they have positive samples, why do you need to state that you have so many witnesses? I would think one positive with a solid chain of custody trumps the testimony of 10 convicted dopers.

I also find the timing pretty incredible. You have a positive test, but wait until the Justice Department drops the case, and see if Lance wins any races. Then nail him two weeks before IM France so he can't rack up the points he needs to KQ.

It's ridiculous.

Could someone explain to me how they can catch Cantador (sp) and others within a year or two, but take over a decade to charge LA?

"They" aren't the same entity, since Contador isn't a U.S. citizen... I think it was the Spanish Cycling Federation dealing with his case.

Wish they would have waited 2 more weeks before filing the charges. Bummer. Would have been a great race.

I'll weigh in.

Do I think LA doped?  Yes. (just an opinion....how could he not during those times?)

Do I think he cheated?  No.  (how could he, given the times)

I feel that "cheating" implies doing something to gain an unfair advantage.......if the culture of the time is such that most, or even all, are doing the same...then the playing field is equal.

That being said....I just don't care....it doesn't affect my life.

LA has done more good, in regards to cancer research,  than most of us could ever imagine.....roll on!

Cancer and resource support for those affected (including family/loved ones). Not research. But nevertheless LIVESTRONG has an excellent charity profile if you look at the numbers and practices.

I'm OK with nit-picky......I'm not OK with BS..which is how I see this latest attempt....no matter what side of the fence we may be on.

Either it's illegal or it isn't....legal avenues have failed miserably....we are a nation of laws.  Game over....let it go. (collectively, not individually....I get the fact that opinions vary)

In Australia we call this "tall poppy syndrome", anyone who stands out by being exceptional becomes a target.

Those w@nkers at USADA are on a spiteful mission and as far as I'm concerned they're a bunch of pricks who don't care who they destroy as long as they get their 15mins of fame. If LA did some blood doping I don't care, all his opponents were being doped with nandrolone etc and if you don't believe that tall to a few of the pros from that era.

Again our media is spinning this as if he is guilty......why can't one reporter question why if he failed in 2009/10 he is just finding out!!!!!!!!!........having 10 witnesses is compelling but aren't these the same 10 that the government had and dropped the case due to not enough evidence?

Interesting stuff....

It was reported that Lance Armstrong, "is banned from competing in triathlon, a sport that he focused on after retiring from cycling competition," according to USA Today.

"The immediate impact is that Armstrong will be banned from competing in triathlons this summer," declared the Washington Times.

The other Washington paper, the Post, wrote, "As a result of the charges, Armstrong has been immediately barred from competition in triathlons, a sport he took up after his retirement from cycling in 2011."

There were no positive tests or he would've be nailed then. They're going to argue that there's an overall pattern in the data, below the level of the criterion needed for a positive test, that suggests doping. In other words, they're going to make a post-hoc argument as to what constitutes sufficient evidence for doping.

BINGO, this is the deal, I believe it is a witch hunt and this is how they will "get him"!!

So... even IF he doped it's been so long and there are so many tests he has passed it's just a personal vendetta at this point.

Saw this in another thread (cannot vouch for 100% accuracy but sure looks to be correct).  So if they take his titles away who would they give them to?

As far as this being a personal vendetta, has anyone offered up a reason why the USADA, funded by US Government taxpayer dollars (mostly), would have it in for Lance?  I haven't read the entire thread, so apologies if this has been covered.

That's exactly what my husband, a non-triathlete/non-cyclist, said this morning.  If it were another country, then it would be more understandable.
