Pre-race routine:

Cycled 6km to get to the event, handed over my �4.00 registration fee and was handed race number 1010. Pottered about taking photo's for you lot and bumped into my son and daughter in law.
Event warmup:

Admired the Zumba girls that were warming up the runners. The one on the right in pink is my DIL who was part of the show!

Comments:

Should have been a fast start if it wasn't for all the dog walkers (yes the dogs had race numbers), push chairs and assorted 6 year olds that had started right at the front.
)Had lots of fun dodging folks and staying light on my feet. Took photo's on route and even stopped to take photos after passing one of the olympic torch bearers who was also running.
Last 700m mostly uphill except the finish on the running track
No drinking station!!! (until we had finished
What would you do differently?:

Hire a costume. There were no gorillas this year.
Post race
Warm down:

Looked at my medal and took a few more photos.
Admired those less fortunate than myself who took part and finished. Good on them.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inability to take it seriously

Glad you could get the photos uploaded, but am a bit disappointed not to see anyone in a monkey suit. Also, I notice that it is not raining so I'm not convinced this run actually took place in England. This suspicion is heightened by the fact that the race is measured in miles and your pace mins per mile.Still, good job wherever the race location

Great job on the race, Allen, and thanks for the pics, so great!  Love the Olympic torch pic and the one of you, you very color-coordinated fellow, matching your clothes to your bike !  And I think he really is in England because of the little boy in the football (soccer) jersey in the Olympic torch pic.  Not too many kids wear that stuff in America unless it is for their team they play on.   I liked that you appreciated what you were able to do and acknowledge those that cannot, or cannot as easily as you.  It's good to keep it all in perspective.

Here in the UK we use miles for our roads and car speedometers, the rest of europe are on Km and we are now forced to go metric for everything else.

Excellent. A fun run is supposed to be fun, and everyone looks like they are having plenty. I love the picture with the torch.
