I've been contemplating naming my road bike. My hybrid which I used for a long time I named Durga

Durga (Hindustani pronunciation: [d?u?rga?]Sanskrit??????); meaning "the inaccessible"[1] or "the invincible";durga)[2] is a popular fierce form of the Hindu Goddess or Devi. She is depicted with multiple (variously, up to eighteen) arms[3], carrying various weapons and riding a ferocious lion or tiger. She is often pictured as battling or slaying demons, particularly Mahishasura, the buffalo demon.

So I've been thinking about choosing a name for my new road bike. Anyone else name their bike?

How did you come up with the name?

June Bug!  I bought my bike on May 31 (a few years ago) and paying for her was as painful as writing my June mortgage check!

Red Fred.   Nothing says Fred like a 60 year old dude on a$10,000 bike going 14 mph.

Doohan.  Yes, I am a Star Trek nerd and I ride a Scott (that part wasn't intentional, but when naming it seemed an obvious fit).

Mine is Arcee, named after the pink Transformer (she's a pink and white QR). She even has a little pink autobot decal. Sometimes you just have to embrace your inner nerd.

My tri bike: Saluki.

Grey, thin, and fast.

Out of 8 bikes, it's the only one that's been named.

I named my bike Aphrodite after the goddess of love. I figured if I love and take good care of her she'll take good care me when I need her to. I know it might be going overboard but I thought it was appropriate.

"Gertrude."

No idea. Came to me while I was still planning on buying the bike. Between test rides. (And the one I test rode each time was the exact same bike at the shop...so I guess I really did name her before I took her home...)

"Cabernet"...She is white with "wine" colored accents... and I have been known to enjoy some nice wine but there is a double meaning.... She's "Cab" for short...

Mantra = "My Cab is faster than any cab you'll ride in the city (Chicago)" Wink

First bike is H.B. Green. Second bike is Bike . Third bike Red. Fourth bike T. S. Tri. Might just need a new bike soon to come up with a new. Almost tried to get a new one when I found a crack in my fork but was unable to convence my husband that in order to buy a new fork you needed a new bike. Must think of a better reason for a new bike.
