Subject: 1000 miles

With my bike ride today I passed 1000 miles for the year in s/b/r, mainly run as I have done a half marathon and I am now training for a marathon.  I have nearly s/b/r from Wichita (my home town) to Denver and back.  It sure took me a lot longer s/b/r than in a car Cool

Obviously there are a lot that are way past my 1000 miles for the year (especially all those doing IM) but there are also a lot like me that will look at 1000 miles as "damn that's a long ways".  And a huge improvement over last year where I probably was close to 300 miles of running with no bike or swim.

Out of curiosity, who has the most miles for the year?  post now.

2900 on the bike so far this year.  Doing IMWI.  Should get past 5000 by the end of Fall.

I'm at 626 for the year but 388 in the last 3 months and 222 this month so the current trend is good. (Most of mine is bike)

Probably a pure cyclist.

Just the bike or all disciplines combined??

For the bike I'm at 2644...I've probably spent about 10 hours on the trainer that obviously wouldn't go towards that total. I'm doing IMAZ in Nov. so I'm expecting my numbers to jump significantly.

There are a few guys in here that will ride close to 1000 miles in a month!!

It is fun to think about all the miles we put in.  So far this year I have a total of 2884 s/b/r miles.

Sorry I was a little confusing.  My 1000 is a total for all disciplines.  Which with some posts already pales in comparison to others but is exciting for me.

I was wanting to hear how many miles for all 3 sports combined people have gotten this year.  The people doing 1000 miles a month on the bike is just insane.

I've done 5k years only to be crushed when finding out some of the local roadies have done well over 10k.

Since I've been dealing with an injury off and on the entire year, adding my running/swimming doesn't really effect the numbers much.

Brings my totals up to 3013...I need to start running!! Surprised

Sounds like I need to up my biking... I never have been real good at getting my biking in this summer, especially long rides.

Congrats on hitting 1k this yr!!!

BTW- Bear is right about competitive cyclists.  Local collegiate racers all are 10+k miles annually.  That's why I've never bought any of their bikes/wheels despite being ridden "only 2 years" Wink

Used to ride >5k mi/yr before I got into tri, but now down to 2.5-3k mi/yr cycling.  Last yr mileage totals (S/B/R) were 11/3.1k/1k, but that was for an  IM.

I am at 4318 miles total for the year: 3000+ biking around 1000 run and 70 ish swim.  This has been a good year for me without any significant injuries.  Hopefully this will be my biggest year in each discipline.  I also had a PR at the HIM level this weekend, wonder if there is a correlation.  Bike is finally inching faster with the increased vollume.  I am certainly not up there with our big boys though.

Just passed 600 miles the other day on the bike - 310+ biking / 290+ running (I also swim but don't really know what I do there). Just got my bike in April, and I've been nursing a bone spur since then as well so I haven't ran as much as usual though.

Congrats to the OP on hitting the 1000 miles!  Your 1000 is someone else's 4000 and another person's 400 - its all relative.

I'm at 1640 for s/b/r with my first couple of 100+ run months and almost 100 miles of swimming.  Big year for me.

Congrats OP - that's a great milestone!

I've been putting up a lot of training hours as of late.

650 miles of S/B/R in the past 30 days per my garmin. This includes bike trainer miles on a Cycleops2 trainer (which actually averages out to the same pace as my road riding, nearly exactly.)

Whew. Tiring.

With today's brick I should go over 3000 on the bike and 1000 on the run--on the same day!

Thanks for starting this thread. I would have never noticed this otherwise.

10 miles shy of 3k on the bike this year. Back to back IMs, should drop off significantly after IMNYC. 460+ running. Not enough swimming.
