Subject: Stupid, Lazy or both June 16, 2006 ) — A Wayne County woman was seriously injured early this morning after she was trapped under a train and dragged along the railroad tracks. Keesha Moody, 25, of Schuler Street, Lyons, Wayne County, and three friends cut across the CSX railroad yard on Franklin Street, around 12:30 a.m., said Lyons Police Chief Michael Donalty. The group was reportedly heading to a friend's house on Franklin Street, on the south side of the yard. Rather than walking around two stopped trains, the four people crawled underneath cars of the two lengthy trains, Donalty said. All four people cleared the first train without incident. Three of the four people also cleared the second train.
Moody was still underneath the train when it started to move, Donalty said. Her legs caught under the wheels of one of the cars and the train dragged her approximately 20 feet down the tracks, he said. She was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital via Mercy Flight. Moody was listed in guarded condition today, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
The quartet allegedly trespassed on CSX property to cross the tracks, Donalty said. Charges could be forthcoming. |
