I went running this morning and was thinking some light gloves would have been nice. What are your favorite chilly weather items?

Arm warmers and knee warmers are very pro, assuming it is in fact cold.  Also, cycling caps under the helmet.

MY most used piece of fall/ winter / spring Gear is my NB Running vest without a dought hands down, I would be lost without it. when it gets real cold snowy and blowing the UA balaclava is  also a godsend.

I usually switch over to a gore tex Trail shoe for the wet/ snow season as well, cold wet feet generally make for a miserable run.

It doesn't get too cold where I live, so capris work for most of the fall and winter. I think they're so much cuter than full length tights (I will bust out the tights if it does get cold enough, though).

Thick headbands that cover the ears are very nice.

And last but not least, I think arm warmers are one of the best things ever.

Don't get too much cold weather here in FL.  A long-sleeve Dri-fit shirt is usually enough for running.  We may have a few days during the winter when I'll wear tights and a wind vest on the bike.

Wow, I think I should spend some more time in warmer climates during the winter.

I usually will hold on to wearing shorts on the legs for quite awhile, but my cold weather gear includes tights, then pants over the top of those, usually a underarmor cold gear long sleeve, with a fleece pullover and a wind breaker jacket over the top, then a socking cap and wool mittens. I have gone as far as wearing ski goggle when the wind and snow is really blowing. I run at night after the kids are in bed, so it can get really cold.

I just add a light long-sleeve shirt (the Target tech shirts work well), and maybe knit garden gloves (the kind you can get for a dozen pair for $10). Knee warmers if it's cooler, like into the 40's.

Cap gets replaced with light beanie to cover tops of my ears.

shorts make way for running pants

short sleeves to long sleeves and pull over jacket or rain jacket

headlamp as more running at night

a small blinking light I attach to the back of my pants if running in the dark

thin running gloves.

I really need to get me some running tights. I only started running last March, and then I wore my yoga/danc-y type pants. They're floppy and high-friction and I don't like them. This fall I am treating myself to some running tights!

I like to wear a light jacket over a T-shirt, some thin gloves, and when my ears start to ache, I bust out the ski beanie for my head.

I live in Michigan, so if you don't want to run on the treadmill all winter, you learn to invest in cold-weather gear. My personal record is 10 below zero Fahrenheit.

Chilly (I wore this yesterday when it was mid-40s): capri pants, long-sleeved top (I have various weights: light wool, windproof, etc), maybe a warm vest, light gloves, earmuff headband.

Cold: tights, layers of long-sleeves shirts or light fleece, light hat.

Colder: thermal tights, heavier fleece, heavier gloves, warmer hat, Buff (to be worn as a balaclava/gaiter), extra layer of wool socks. If it's windy I'll add those swishy gym pants.

For my 10-below-zero run I remember I wore gym pants over thermal tights and my winter coat, and I actually was TOO warm.

I don't really like arm warmers unless I'm starting out for a long run on a chilly morning and I know it's going to warm up significantly. If it's going to stay chilly during my run, I prefer to wear a long-sleeved shirt.

I do need to get something reflective to wear in the early mornings... boo to shorter daylight hours.

I wear Under Armor Cold Gear underneath Hind brand running pants for bottoms and windbreaker coat.  If it's really cold, I will layer on even more.  I have a neoprene face mask that I like and I will run with sunglasses on to protect my eyes from the cold wind.

Also, a tip to keep toes warm.  put on a very thin pair of socks, then cut a loaf of bread wrapper long enough for your foot to completely be covered, then put another pair of socks on over it.  Works like a dream.  In fact, your feet will probably sweat more doing this than a 100+ degree run.  But your toes won't be cold.  I do this on cold (sub 30 degrees) bike rides too.

I like....  Sh*t.  Still in Texas.  Same thing I wear for summer.  If I wore any less during the summer, I'd probably be breaking laws.  Or causing accidents. Fall isn't much different.

Oh yeah.  I add arm warmers for effect when it gets below 70.

One of my most-used cold weather running purchases has been a Mountain Hardwear Effusion Power jacket.  It's great at blockign the wind and mist/drizzle, but the back, underarms, and elbows are totally vented.  It also has cuffs that fold down over your hand into a mitten shape.  Great alone for runs in the mid 40's, and comfortable down into the teens with just 1 long sleeve layer underneath.

For pants, I have a 2 pairs- thicker Nike and thinner C9 from Target.  Use both depending on temp.

Cycling- arm/knee warmers as mentioned, skull cap under helmet, compression top under jersey, windproof vest as backup serve me well into the mid to high 40's.  Colder than that and I'd prefer the trainer.

I'm saving up for the best piece of fall/winter training gear...a vacation home in SoCal.

In all seriousness though I did pick up some leg warmers and arm warmers today.

Darn southeners!  Low of 39 tomorrow in Wisconsin :-(

Lightweight running gloves (Nike)

Sweatvac beanie

Compression cold gear long sleeves (UA) with a shell jacket over the top

UA Tights, add Windpants over the top if breezy

Sunglasses to fight glare and keep your contacts from getting crispy

I love me some magic mitts. Usually enough up to -10C. After that I pull out the tights and get some real gloves on.
