I don't disagree.  That came out wrong.  Their understanding of physiology, especially Galloway and Higdon, is minimal. I get to the point where I have to skip those sections in their books because it is such crap.   I have the Advanced Marathoning book too and I do like that one.   Some of the stuff doesn't make sense but I can get past it.   My only point was that it is nice to read a book that does not try to simplify so much that they lose the concept.

Proofreading is another pet peeve of mine.  Higdon's Marathon "novel" is one of the worst written, worst edited books that I own but I still read it and it inspired me to do the Chicago marathon on 10/10/10.

I know, I need to read less and run more.   Its the same thing with dieting.  I need to read less and eat less.

Hahaha I checked Higdon's novel out from the library on accident. I agree it was pretty entertainingly awful. But I think some of the other books you mentioned are simplified so that your average person can follow (ahem, people like me.) I think a lot of people get overwhelmed with too much information and a lot of that information is just not all that important in a beginner program.

I pretty much agree. I've winced reading some of the stuff in Galloway and even Pfitzinger & Douglas. However, P&D was originally written in, what, the early '90s? and they didn't heavily revise much of it for 2008. If you read Pfitzinger's current stuff--his articles and blog posts--they are bang-on.

Also, when I met Galloway in person and attended his seminars, I realized how extensive his knowledge of both exercise physiology and kinesiology is. I'm not sure he does the greatest job of boiling that down and getting it across in his books. (Okay, I am sure. I don't think it's a great job). But it's really not easy to do.

Nice. To put it mildly

I'm not FORMALLY part of the jogo-go-go, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express ... like ... four years ago?

4 hrs on the stationary, 15-min trannie run, 15 min swim cords, 15 min yoga.

I think my brain is in remission.

Artemis - 2012-12-20 11:01 AM I think you will all enjoy these reviews of a banana slicer.

I am sitting in my cubicle analyzing numbers. This helped lighten things up, thanks. BTW, I agree with the reviewer who noted that his bananas curve in the wrong direction.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.  I took a break from reading papers and was highly entertained.

Sooooo Manatees. Here's the new mentor group season thread in the STAGING AREA ... meaning, let's keep the chatter here until we're formally unleashed. (barkbarkbark)

However, please post a thoughtful/thoughtless appropriate/inappropriate bio there ... since it's a group mentor thing, it's important that we have as many Manatee bios in there before the group goes live for new members so prospective Manatees can see what they're getting themselves into :D muah ha ha MUAH HA HA HA ...

Must be me. Not sure why it does it on rare specific threads. I looked at a couple of the other threads in there and they were fine. I saw someone else ask about it on a thread once. Weird. Nevermind, my bad.

Possibly more or less importantly, I've already brushed and mouthwashed my teeth, so do I really need a bowl of Lucky Charms before I go to sleep? Or just fondle the one on my neck and be satisfied?
