I'm planning on starting Jorge's plan with TrainerRoad on Thursday. Apparently with the new TrainerRoad Beta you can enter in your own training plan, so I was planning on using Jorge's plan.

It is just a Beta though so I guess I'll see how it works when I set it up tomorrow.

Let me know how that goes, I wanted to do the same, but was told TrainerRoad didn't allow for you to create your own workouts.

If it does now, I'm signing up today!!!

Just signed up for TrainerRoad and see that E3 (Jorge) has plans on there... are they not one in the same?

I don't know what the similarities are but Jorge's full plan is 16 weeks where as the plan created by Jorge on TrainerRoad is only 7 weeks long.

I don't know how exactly they are different, but I know that the full plan incorporates long rides and I don't thing the TrainerRoad version does. There is a thread somewhere on BT that goes into the difference. Not sure where it's at..

I'm waiting till Dec. 1 to start.  Right now, I am using some Spinerval tapes and Sufferfest.  I am only on the trainer 3x/week.  I think Jorge is a 4x/week.  I am also doing Barry P 3-2-1 running, so maybe I will be a fit chic come spring.  Haha!

Maybe one of you will know this: for the 5 and 20 min tests, the average power you use in the calculator, is it for the entire test or just the AP for the 5 mins and 20 mins respectively?  The way Jorge describes it, it's the AP for the entire test as in including the warmup & cool down.

IF you mean the critical power calculator, no, your entry values do not include the warmup and cooldown: you enter your average power over the 5 minute test (aka 5 minute max power, or 5MP) in the 5 minute "Avg Watts" entry cell, and your  average power over the 20 minute test (aka 20 minute max power, or 20MP) in the 20 minute "Avg Watts" entry cell.

Jorge, let's get this party started!

That was my logic also, but just wanted to make sure.  Thanks.

I'm sure this is posted somewhere, but a quick search didn't find it.  It says the plan is 4 times a week, 3 main and an optional one.... which one is optional?  (Assuming one of the two back to back workouts)  I will rarely be able to squeeze in 4 days a week, so I wanna be sure I am skipping the 'correct' workout.

Thanks in advance.

The fourth workout is a longer steady state workout and is recommended for those with an early season HIM or IM.

And to make it even easier, it's the last ride of each week in the plan.

I"ll be starting this after my layover from surgery.  Need to start from scratch essentially.  How long is the plan?

oops just saw 16 weeks. Hmmm. decisions, decisions.  I'm just biding time till Dec 19, then can't ride the bike till Feb. Any ideas of where you need to start fitness wise?

You can download the software here:
http://www.trainerroad.com/install

Here is their last release note:

2012.10.18

-Workout Creator has some critical bugs. Day light savings bug will make it difficult to make any sort of workout. We're working on this and will have a fix the night of 2012.10.19.

It's obviously past 2012.10.19 so I am emailing them to check on the status of the Beta release.

I want to try this plan but usually go to spin class and do sufferfest videos during the week. Would it be better to stop all that and do the plan or should i incorporate those things into my schedule?

Just so everyone knows the DST issue in the TrainerRoad 1.3.2 Beta is working. But keep in mind, it is a Beta. It may not work 100%. If you have problems use the stable version.

Well, I meant it was easier to find when looking at the plan.  But your interpretation is funnier.

anyone know if you're supposed to do the 5 min or 20 min tests before you actually begin the program? I can't find an answer to this. if you do actually do the tests before you actually begin the plan, then do you do the 5 min test then do the 20 min test following next day?

I think you're supposed to test before the plan so you know where to set your FTP or LTHR.  For the Trainer Road Jorge Plan, it's the first workout and the 5 minute and 20 minute tests are in the same 60 minute session.
