That is why it is called Beginner Triathlete. Don't make fun of us newbies. You were one once.

In response to Tech Geezer above.

Don't take it personally.  It's just that if you're around for a while you'll see lots of questions asked for the umpteenth time.  The great thing about BT is that there's always friendly folks around who are willing to take the time to answer questions.  It's great seeing how quickly the newbies become experts and start sharing their knowledge with the "new" newbies.

Welcome back - Lots have changed, but the basics are still here.

- Am I ready for a 1/2 or Full IM
- What should I eat, drink, wear, etc
- Where is the BT meet up

and we always need experienced folks like yourself to answer our zillion questions as we try to figure this Tri thing out.

Like I said - welcome back! Hope you stick around.

Tom!  Glad to hear from you.  I am still logging my exercising but I don't race anymore.

Still remember the "MadCow" ride and ice-cream break around Concord, MA.

Hope you and your family are well!

Wow. It's great to see so many of you still around.

BT is such a great place. I have met so many wonderful people that I will never forget from BT.

DK and Kathy, I have told so many people about my trip back to Boston and all of them have said "you went to Boston. People you never met before picked you up from your hotel and drove you to the secluded woods for a swim and a bike ride?" It seems so weird to other people, but was completely normal for BT.

Gina, GRVFROG was the first BTer to attempt the Double Iron. We were going to do the race the same year (2006), but my fitness wasn't where I wanted it to be. I did the double in 2007, the same year she did the triple. I did the triple in 2009, with aluminum1...and of course, I couldn't have done any of it without Oliveview (Sheri)

As for the newbie questions... At one point I got tired of answering the "What do you wear under your bike shorts" question and I was going to post something snarky. My wife (Happycow) said, "This may be your 1,000th time reading that question, but it is that person's first time posting it". That made so much sense and now I just smile when I see the same questions time and time again

Again, BT is a great place, Ron and Marmadaddy have really accomplished something special here. I would say that I will post more and keep at it, but my time is super limited and I barely have time to post this. The kids are getting bigger and their activities are requiring more time than they did a few years ago. I will get out there and race participate again soon, so keep and eye out for an older out of shape guy, riding an 8 year old Cervelo with 12 year old tri shorts on, walking the run course... that will be me.

Take care everybody!!!

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I remember when madcow was the subject of one of the earliest big IM watching threads. I'm still around too, but not quite as much as I used to be. I've been struggling with plantar fasciitis for a while now so the running has dropped right off and I haven't been biking much either lately. Still intending a comeback though.

Nice to see you around. I have been in and out over the years. I actually just re-read your double and triple race reports a few weeks ago. Absolutely amazing and makes my "regular ironman" seem kinda dinky! Maybe one day! Take care!
