I need to get back in on this, as I completely fell off the wagon in mid-December. For those I haven't met, my name is Jen and I desperately need accountability!! I am trying to get over a cold right now, but am anxious to get back into a good fitness/nutrition routine! Here are my goals:

Mini- Goal: Cut my Starbucks consumption to 2x/week in month of January.

Long Term Goals:
Currently at 135 lbs.  Ultimate goal is 124 lbs by late June. Mid-term goals are 131 on Feb. 1 and 129 on March 1.

Cardio Do whatever my coach tells me 6x week with one rest day.

Strength 1 personal training session/week + 1 core session

Nutrition:  Cut out the junk (sweets, processed foods) and crowd in lots of fruits + veggies; stay gluten free

Cheating: For January I will allow myself a sweet treat on Sunday

Pictures: I started taking them on Dec 1 and will take the first of every month, but not posting

I'm in again.  No better way to improve then to stick with what works for you.  I'm Don and this community of triathletes along with changes in diet and exercise helped me drop over 50 lbs. in the last year.  I am still improving and look forward to helping others if I can.  I went from an overweight out of shape former jock who wouldn't take his shirt off, to a leaner, meaner, unencumbered triathlete.  Still inspired all the time.

Mini-Goal: Cut all processed foods from one meal each day.  Its tougher than you think, but also simpler.

Long Term Goal:  Reach and maintain a sub 200 weight.  I am currently kicking around between 203 and 210.  Also to maintain my training logs up to date here on BT.

Cardio: Typically 5 - 6 times a week.  Depending on my next race.

Strength:  Intergrated old school body weight strength training into my set now about 4x a week.

Nutrition:  By far the biggest change I made that probably resulted in the best results.  Dropped sodas (except for a reward here and there), dropped beer (unless its for a purpose), and dropped probably 70% of my original dairy intake.  So basically I quit drinking my calories.  Pair this with a huge increase in plant based foot intake and smarter protein/carb consumption and you can see some great results.  In the end it really is quite simple, burn more calories than you consume...period.

Cheating:  I do have a beer, or coke every now and then.  Its also not unheard of me to go over my daily caloric goal.  The trick is don't let one bad day overwhelm you and don't let it derail your overall plan.  Stick to the plan.

Weigh in:  208 last Friday, don't know where I will land this Friday.  Haven't been eating as disciplined with family in town, but have managed to work out regularly.

Pictures:  Okay I'm game.  This is a BT before and after photo.  What a difference a year makes.

Thursdays are my rest day so no training for me today. BUT yesterday I managed to limit my cup of tea intake to only 2 1/2, I poured most of the third one down the drain and even better They only had one rounded spoonful of sugar in them instead of the normal 2 heaped ones. Victory number 1.

I'm in again.  Last weighin 138 so didn't gain anything over the holidays.

Mini goal - Up the water intake. Stay off the caffeine (2 weeks since last coffee)

Long term goal - Under 130 lbs by my birthday Feb 4.

Cardio - just restarting with 20 minute runs.  Will try to build to 45 min cardio sessions by end of the month.

Strength - started beginner strength program, 3 X week to start

Nutrition - clean eating plan. Must stop the evening snacking.

Cheating - hmmmm.. this one is tough for me.  I tend to eat much better and stay off the junk when I work out consistently so that will be key for me.

WeighIn/Measurements - weight goal is <130 by Feb 4.  Long term weight goal <125 lbs.

Pictures - not happening.

Happy New year! I'm in, thanks for setting this up. I'd tried doing a cycling challenge last month, but fell off the wagon pretty hard during the second half of the month. I'm hoping I'll be a bit more disciplined now that it's the new year.

Mini- Goal: For this week, I'm going to make it a goal to drink at least 24 oz of water a day. I know this sounds like a really mini goal, but I'm one of those people who hates drinking water so this really will be a challenge for me!

Long Term Goals:  Getting back below 130, ideally to around 125. I did my official weigh in this morning and I was 133.5. I realize this isn't a lot of weight compared to some people, but it's difficult for me to consciously drop weight. I really need to do this though, since a lot of my pants are currently either really tight or don't fit at all! I suppose fitting back into my wardrobe is another long term goal...

Cardio: I really do want to meet this 4x per week for at least 45 minute goal!

Strength: This goal may be more difficult. I signed up with a personal trainer at the end of 2012 to try to get into strength training, but so far I only seem to do anything the one day a week I meet with him. We'll see if that changes, but even if it does, three times per week may be pushing it for me.

Nutrition:  I've started up with MyFitnessPal to see if I can stick to my calorie budget on most days. With a couple of events already planned for January, I know I won't be perfect everyday, but my goal is to stay within my calorie budget on the days when I don't have anything going on.

Cheating: I'm allowing myself to cheat for special events. This month, that includes my anniversary this Friday, brunch with a friend on Sunday (it's our belated Xmas present to each other) and my weekend trip to TX in the middle of the month.

Weekly Weigh-in/Measurements: I'll check in with my weight on Fridays. Here's hoping it goes down!

Pictures: Haha, not likely!

Try adding lemon, lime or even cucumber to give it some flavor.

^^This, the flavoring helps. Or, go with mineral water if you're into that.

Brief Update. I've started my food journal and made out my meal plan for the rest of the week. Goal would be to not eat out this week.

Interval running and strength training tomorrow morning.

Great job!

I got inspired and started back on my food journalling as well. It's tough because I am on vacation and not eating at regular times.. snacking here and there..

Mini goal for me today. Don't snack on sweets.

I finally went face to face on the scale, yeah it's worse than I thought.  153.7.  Sigh......that MUST change.

Portion control is critical!  No more "just a taste" of things.

Strength training 2-3x per week.

ALL my S/B/R training and some yoga to stretch out.

Thanks Abbie and John for the advice to add flavor to the water. I started yesterday with the everyday Nuun tablets since I had a roll of those, but I like the idea of using natural flavoring better, so I'll pick up some of your suggestions next time I make it to the store.

As for the rest of my goals, I'm going to have to start most of them next week when I have a full week to get started. I'm still trying to shake the last of my cold, so I went to bed early last night and slept in this morning. I'll get in a strength session tonight for sure and will hopefully get in two cardio sessions before the end of the weekend. I'm actually really excited to get back into a routine again!

Cucumber water is the bomb-diggity, thats right I'm bringing that word back in 2013.  It has such a crisp clean flavor to it in water.  Puts me right at ease.

I call it my "spa water"  Try to use English cucumber if you can as these are not waxed like most traditional cucumbers.

That's where I first stumbled upon it was at a fancy smancy spa resort.  Since then been copying the idea.  Who would've thought the recipe for ice water could be improved upon.

Don't have a chance to catch up on the posts and really introduce myself, but want to jump in and say I''M IN!

Did two sprints four years ago with dreams of doing an IM at 50. I drifted away from it all, including fitness and healthy eating, and feel that at 53 I'm too young to be feeling so old, and looking so bad. I've got a 13 and 15 year old and want to be a role model for them - they are both incredible athletes! While I can still impress my boy with a dozen pushups it's time to step it up.

Does anyone ever look at what everyone else has in their shopping carts while at the grocery store? The woman behind me at Whole Foods had 5 french baguettes, 4 pints of ice cream, 2 containers of shredded cheese, milk and a head of romaine lettuce.  I kept thinking the only thing in her basket that I would eat is the lettuce.

I used to check out other people's shopping but then one day I had a look at my own and thought what do people think about mine, there wasn't a piece of fresh food in it, everything was in a box. It was then that I decided to learn to cook and now 18 months later my shopping still looks like I don't eat fresh food because I go to the fruit and veg or the butcher for that so from my shopping it looks like we eat milk, breakfast cereal and cleaning products But I do know what you mean because I used to be one of those people.

On occasion.....but there are times I look at my own cart and realize that people coud say similar about me.  In general I don't eat the pop tarts and goldfish crackers or the oreos.....but the kids do.  I eat the fruits, veggies, nuts and low fat cheese.
