bradleyd3 - 2013-04-03 10:11 AM Dumbest and most inaccurate poll ever. Texas at 26? C'mon....we all know Texas is #1. Never ask a man if he's from Texas. If he is, he'll tell you. If he's not....there's no need to embarrass him.

Texas happiness varies dramatically between the seasons.  There’s Texas State Fair season, in which Texans stuff their gullets with fried butter, fried beer, fried chicken skin, and fried bacon cinnamon rolls while living in a state of perpetual, sugar-induced ecstasy.  And there’s the other 11 months of the year, where Texans sadly roll their rascals through Walmart, try to read the Spanish menu at McDonald's, and say through clenched teeth “maybe this will be the year Romo doesn’t blow it”.

Texas should be last on the list...its the most depressing state ever.  If you're a Yankee or from California there is no way you would want to move here.

PA was 29. Once I saw they included Camden, NJ in with Philly I knew we were screwed. Camden is consistently one of the 5 most dangerous cities in the US, and every mayor since 2000 has gone to prison!

People have different preferences so one poll is a pretty poor idea for such a topic.  I would be miserable if I lived in some parts of PA vs. others so to rank happiness of a state is foolish.  Some people like urban life and some like rural life.

Especially when some states concentrate population into one or two urban areas. It's like NYC, you either love it or hate it. Although I wouldn't want to live in Centralia, PA, either. It's been on fire since 1962

Exactly.. I'm not sure people like "on fire" life.  Then again, it wouldn't surprise me.

I know I used to like living in cities but I have changed I love rural areas now.

Political climate has an influence as well.  There are parts of California which would be perfect (for me) if not for politicians.

Yeah....that's what I meant.

Horrible, Horrible state. Especially for anyone North, East, or West of us.

If I would I would leave in a heartbeat and move.....anywhere but here.

I lived in the Bay area for a while, little gated community near Dublin. We were probably the only Republican enclave within 100 miles. Favorite places I ever lived was Ann Arbor, Michigan and Philly. Worst was Wilmington, DE.

Glad to see Idaho right in the middle. Might keep people from moving here and screwing it up!

I am not too far from Centralia, just a couple counties over. I can still think of places in the region that I would still avoid even more.

PA is at least four to six different regions that could each be their own state.

if one can get past the horrific taxes and politics (which we seem to have done, at least sufficiently enough to stay) there's not a better place to live than Northern California.......

30 minutes from the beach; 20 minutes from the big city; 50 minutes from all the tourist draws and natural beauty of SF; 5 minutes from a nice lake (or 3); 100s of miles of good bike/run routes - with enough hills to mimic ANY race you'd like to attempt - right out your front door - no car involved!   Hot day is 90; Cold day is 50.  Snow almost non-existant, rain pretty rare. Hundreds of wineries, breweries, michelin-starred restaurants and amazing dives - impossible to run out of new ones to try!

Add in the Forty-Niners, Raiders, Giants, A's and Sharks, we are the Golden State.

Pretty happy here in California......
