tkos - 2013-04-15 9:58 AM I wouldn't call Callabero's form that beautiful for a marathoner. But if it works for her great.

???

Really???

I like how powerful it looks.  And, yes, it certainly does seem to be working.

When things look powerful, they are rarely efficient. When things look graceful, they often are.

She may very well get a good finish, but this is often the reason why runners fail as they get near the end of the run. You can get away with a lot in short races.

I don't know, man.  I hear what you're saying, but if you're in the lead group at all at Boston, you've spent enough miles figuring out what's most efficient for your body.  Maybe it's not enough to win Boston today, but it's still hard to argue with the efficiency of repeat 5:30s, especially on a challenging course like this.

That might be her best and she is mighty fast. But Watch the Kenyans. Smooth. And you can't argue with how often they win.

She is now slip sliding away from the leaders.

Fair enough. There's definitely a reason the Kenyans and Ethiopians win.

She is also built differently.  She may not be fast enough to beat Kenyans, but I would still argue that if she's running at the front of Boston, she's knows her most efficient stride.

I got into an elevator once with a group of Kenyans the night before a marathon.  Nothing could have provided a more illustrative example of why I would never be a competitive marathoner.

Tracking a friend, her first Boston.  I told her "bank energy, not time" to Newton, then let it rip.  Did she listen?

What pace does she normally run?   If she normally runs 7:teens, then yes ;)

I don't know many people who successfully negative split their first Boston.

So easy to get caught up in the momentum and the overall downhill of those first 8 miles of rollers.

Woah.

And he was definitely not built like a classic marathoner.  That might be one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.

I'll know in 2km...she is on pace to negative split if she holds it together.  I am beside myself!!  I'm predicting 3:20, after a 1:41:02 13.1.

That is really impressive.  Speaks volumes about her maturity as a runner.  Very strong work.  Nice time on a tough course too.
