(I guess this doesn't count our fellow humans as animals.) Thimpu, Bhutan is supposedly the only capital city in the world without a traffic light. (Personally verified that, and photographed the doggie asleep in the street next to the traffic policeman. My kind of town!) I would bet it DOES include humans. Malaria is transmitted by mosquitoes and has killed lots and lots of people, and I imagine it still does in the developing world. Malaria has killed over 50 million people since the US "outlawed" DDT, and started withholding international aid for countries that use DDT. DDT does not thin eggshells of Eagles or any other bird. DDT is less toxic than nearly all of its replacements. DDT is really, really good at killing mosquitoes. |
