Subject: RE: Curse WordsIt's a tough call sometimes. Language is malleable. Words can have multiple meanings, some of which are vulgar and some of which are not. Implementing a context sensitive system isn't an option due to the cost. The latest system, recently implemented, is somewhat automated in that it's programmed to try to catch different variations of the words in the banned list. In this case it asterisked a perfectly innocent word, but on the whole the system's ok. Fine tuning it by excluding some variations of words from being censored seems reasonable. As to PM's, it is a more private system of communication but anyone can send a message to anyone else. Without the ability to block messages from distinct senders, the potential for abuse is there. Again, we're erring on the side of caution. It's worth discussion though. Anyone else have any ideas/input? Ron, what's your take?
