Help me pick a new bike

Champion  7136     Knoxville area |  Subject: Help me pick a new bikeFinally starting to look for a newish frame to upgrade to. The Stack // Reach of my Planet X is 506//407, but as you can see by the picture it's required a little bit of work to "get there." It's also a 76° STA. Ok, so I ask the BT masses what you think would be a good fit. Some things to consider - I want a pretty slick frame. Doesn't have to be a superbike, but on par with a P3 at least. - I am looking to spend around $2k (of course less is fine too) - that's for the frame only. - Would really prefer the calbes entered the frame behind the stem and not on the downtube (I'd probably end up doing the tririg mod on a p2/p3/whatever) - Not worried about "tricky" bikes to set up. I have worked on other peoples P4's / SC's / nose cone Shiv's without much worry. - Mechanical shifting so being Di2 ready isn't a concern. Still looking for the right bike and not what the shop sells. *also, no fit protocol I've ever had done suggests my position as my optimal position... but my testing says otherwise. If you're just now thinking then maybe when you're ready you could locate a smokin deal on a p-5three module. Probably won't happen but you never know depending on when you decide to finally shop. P2, tri rig mod (I'm doing this to my P3 after Steelhead), and all the other aero goodies you can find/do. |

The S and M sizes have the same stack and different reaches, you're somewhere in there it looks like. things I like: 1) it's advertised as 'adjustable', but that's not just from a mechanical standpoint, I find it's also quite easy to get into different aero positions starting with your 'ideal one' and still be stable and comfortable, ie further up on the saddle/bars, back on both, etc. 2) cable routing behind the stem, as you say 3) a nice flat top tube for mounting bento box 4) 2 bottles 5) feels very solid in strong winds. 6) FAST! the only thing I don't really like is the rear brake, which is difficult to adjust owing to one of the tensioning screws being obscured by the front rings. Just stupid placement. Not that you'll have to get in there more than once, but it's lame. |
