Event warmup:

Biked a bit to check my bike and then ran some with my friend
Swim
  • 44m 4s
  • 2000 meters
  • 02m 12s / 100 meters
Comments:

This is plus T1
Lake Ontario was a bit choppy this am. The biggest problem I had was after the turn around. There were lovely buoys until then and then none!!! There was a breakwall you could sort of follow and people were so spread out i couldn't tell exactly where the best place to be was :(
What would you do differently?:

Know the swim course better. I assumed because I have done the short course a zillion times that it is similar but nope...a lot different
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I ripped my wetsuit in the seam :( :( :(
Bike
  • 1h 39m 46s
  • 49.6 kms
  • 29.86 km/hr
Comments:

Meh. I never can say I have a spectacular bike. It was a good ride for me. My bike computer said my ave speed was 30.2 which is interesting
What would you do differently?:

Nothing! If I went harder on the bike it ruin my above average running abilities
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Took about 8 mins as there was NO ROOM for my bike on the rack. I had to shove things around and even go to the other side of the rack to get my saddle on. That plus a pit stop made an abysmal transition.
What would you do differently?:

The fact that there was no room left was not my fault. Everyone else should be more respectful of space. The spots are labeled so there was no excuse for racking in my spot
Run
  • 1h 18m 3s
  • 15 kms
  • 05m 13s  min/km
Comments:

That time included the abysmal T2 so I would take 7 to 8 mins off that time. I had a good run as always. First half I had bleccch feeling legs but it wasn't slowing me down a lot. Then after the turn around it was magic and my run legs kicked in. Passed 3 of my peeps who where quite a bit ahead of me on the bike
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. The run is my "thing"
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bad swim navigating and abysmal T2 due to bad behaviour of others racking bikes in my spot.

Event comments:

KTown is always the best race. Sadly it will be taken over by new owners next year so this was the last of the classic race. It was 30 years this way. Sad for Kingston :( I am glad I could do the last one. EVERYONE was there...so fun for the KTown tri community

Most of those thinking about tackling a long swim instinctively feel it’s necessary to Do much to build endurance - more yards, harder laps. But a focus on Receiving is ideal for long distances.

Experts agree, doing a “mock,” triathlon on the course you’re racing can aid you in your training; performance and most of all quell some nervous energy.
