It would depend on my mood - either I would be in a happy mood and ignore it since it is a free country, or be in a "meh" mood then get slightly annoyed and maybe make a comment loud enough for that person to hear, or if I was not in a good mood I would approach that person and turn the volume down without saying a word and then give the person a pizzed look when they look up at me (and then a blur occurs and I wake up in jail being told something about being disorderly).

Saunter over, stand real close, and let loose a silent, but deadly, fart. ;-)

Just one of many times I wish I could do that on demand...

I'm gonna weigh in with a big fat "it depends." If it bothered me I'd say something for sure, but it may or may not bother me depending on my mood. Plus I very, very rarely go to that particular retailer. The peeps at my coffee place are way cooler.

Totally makes sense.  There are some days when I'd be able to roll with it, I think. Or at least it wouldn't have made me want to hit the heavy bag like it did last Friday;) It really was one of those days--lots of meetings, lots of travel.

When I travel for work, SBUX is my go-to.

I'm trying to understand other people's choices in this matter.

For me it's pretty straight forward.

If I'm leaving, just leave.  I'm not causing a stink if I'm not even going to hang around to be bothered by it or not.

If I'm staying, simply ask them nicely if they could turn it down.  Be polite.  I would think that would work most of the time.

If they don't?  Tell the management to do something about it.

I don't see the points of passive aggressive "comments" loud enough for them to hear.  Just be polite and ask.  I also don't see the point of getting management involved first when a simple "could you please" might solve the problem.  Bringing in the "authorities" to handle it seems weird to me.

Since I tend to be overly conscious of my impact to others, I'm always surprised me at the lack of courtesy or how oblivious people are of their surroundings.  There was a couple in a planning commission meeting I had the other night that were just talking like they were in a noisy bar while proceedings were going on.  People kept looking at them and some even "shushed".  Finally took security to come over and tell them to knock it off.  Weird.  They were older so maybe hard of hearing and used that volume to talk to each other all the time?

We are often asked the question, "What size frame should I buy" and the answer is “it depends”. I know that’s not the answer you want to hear, but hopefully the following will shed some more light.
