I'm in! (Holy Crap)

I was watching the Finish line yesterday and hearing the announcer say "You are an IRONMAN!" got to me.

My only Caveat is I am doing my first HIM in October (Mighty Man) If my performance is completely abysmal I will have to re- evaluate at that time.

I am signed up with a couple of friends. Most are faster than me one or two is slower than me. Except for all the swimming, biking and running we plan on having as much as fun as possible. lol

Anyone know if registration is closed? I am trying to sign up another friend and keep getting an error message.

wow, 30 minutes!?! That's amazing. I'm so glad i did it online and was ready at 9:00 am for it. I would have been very bummed if I didn't get in. I almost went to Lake Placid to register in person but somebody told me that was a headache, easier online. I'm relieved now .. I feel sorry for anybody that didn't get in.

I'm in for my 3rd in a row.  Rob (CptnJackSparrow) and Seth (Marlborough Man) are both in too, since there were in line with me this morning at registration!

Was all set to register yesterday but got to thinking (actually been thinking about this for weeks) about Kona and my chances of qualifying at IM WI this year. Decided to be fiscally responsible and not sign up for IMLP. If I don't qualify this year I'll do IM WI again in '07, or possibly IMCDA or Canada if slots are still open after I do WI. I may regret this decision but LP will always be there.

There's a thread somewhere about places to stay. I think I even replied to it, mentioning a few of the hotels I'd seen.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn property that sits above the town and is about a 5minute walk from the Ironman Village. It's not called a Holiday Inn, though, and its not an Intercontinental. Crowne Plaza maybe? I'm sure if you check the HI website it will be listed. It was clean, nice, but nothing special. It did have a small refrigerator and microwave. I usually try to stay in a suite, but this hotel either did not have any, or none were available, I can't recall.

Make reservations soon or you'll be out of luck. Most hotels have 4-day min stays, and require $200 non-refundable deposits.

I'm jealous that you're racing this one. Wish I could go back and do it again! I have a race report posted somewhere about the course.
