Subject: RE: Cycling at 80.There's a guy in our bike club in Oregon who's 76 and he's done hilly 50+ mile rides with us. he can do 20+ mph for short pulls when he gets going. He's had two hip replacements, still riding a few hundred miles a week, and placing in his age group in bike races (when there is an age group for him ). Not nearly that level, but my mom is 75 and regularly does 3 hour plus rides. She's slow but steady--we put in some 5-6 hour rides this summer in Europe. In fact, judging from her recent e-mails I have a sneaking suspicion that she's been biking more than I have lately, at least in terms of time! |
