Event warmup:

Swim 200m
Swim
  • 07m 2s
  • 400 meters
  • 01m 46s / 100 meters
Comments:

Time was pretty good but I didn't feel really fast and my age group placing indicates it wasn't a great swim for me. First race of the season though so not too bad. Got out of the water feeling good which is an indication that I need to push harder in these shorter races.
What would you do differently?:

Swim harder and train more.
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

Long run around the transition area but no issues though.
Bike
  • 27m 37s
  • 15 kms
  • 32.59 km/hr
Comments:

Knew that I hadn't done enough training on the bike but it wasn't a bad performance overall. Felt like I pushed it as well as I could and held a decent pace. Still not competitive within my age group though.
What would you do differently?:

Train a lot more and consistently.
Transition 2
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

No issues, quicker than T1
Run
  • 17m 14s
  • 4 kms
  • 04m 19s  min/km
Comments:

Knew I wasn't going to have a fast split as soon as I started running. Very hot conditions didn't help either. Not too disappointed with the time considering my recent training but over a minute slower than the same race at the start of the year. My age group rank was very disappointing as well as the run is usually my strength.
What would you do differently?:

Train more!
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Simply that I haven't been consistent or putting in the hours of training - no other reasons!

The race didn't really wear me out but it felt like my body was bonking. Do I really need Gatorade or some other sports drink after a race?

During the race there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange bottles, so I'm thinking about going with the aero bottle and Gatorade bottle and fill up as necessary. What should I do?

My expectations for the quality of this years’ Triathlon world championship were fulfilled. This was because of the superb location that is like no other along with having the top triathletes present.
