Okay, here's my first entry. I ran 64 minutes with a temp. 0 C (32 F) with a north wind of 20 km/hr so I calculate 64 points. So what do I do with it? Is there a place to enter it?

Based on my understanding (and also on page two of the tracking file) I get 160 points for your data - not 64.
2 points for wind
0.5 points for temp
64X(0.5 + 2) = 160

Don is right - the spreadsheet just needs your name and start entering points.

Right, got it. I multiplied . 5 x 2 instead of adding. I think I got the hang of it now and entered my run. We're in a warm spell now so it might be a low points week.

Great pictures!  Very beautiful.

Okay so my first day out and only 49 points.  Not as chilly yet.  I've been slacking off a lot lately so now have to ease in to it with short workouts.  I'm excited though to get this going as we just purchased a chalet so I am hoping for a winter filled with skiing, snowshoeing and if last year is any indication - lots of hilly snowy runs!  Does chopping wood count???

Question - is the temperature the real temperature or what it 'feels' like?

Moraine Lake in Banff National Park is a famous tourist attraction and arguably one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. In the summer the parking lot, hiking trails and lodges are packed with tourists from all over the world.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moraine_Lake

In the winter the road into the lake is closed to vehicles and the road is groomed for cross country skiing. It's usually one of the first trails near Calgary to open for skiing. That's where I was yesterday. Two hours at -3 Celsius for 120 points!

Everyone better get ready, I am recovered from a cold that was so bad I actually skipped a local 5K last weekend and will be hitting it had in the coming weeks. The only issue I have now, is the weather warmed back up into the 40's on me.

Hey all!  I kind of fizzled out last year with a new job and trying to fit my workouts in.  But I want in for more punishment this year.  I've been a wimp so far and have been riding the trainer.  This challenge may be just what I need in order to get out there!   I am maintaining tri fitness this season but I am also dusting off the old snowboard and plan to ride a lot , as well as hiking in the mountains.

I will add my name to the list when I can (I'm at work...Shhhhhhh)  I take it this started Nov 1.  Can go back and add in the workouts?

See ya out there!

Seren

I'm in with the hopes of the temp staying above 35 all winter in St. Louis and Cleveland :-).

It was 37 degrees with 15 mph winds gusting to 35 tonight so I get zero points. I ran on a desolate multi use path next to woods. I was freaking out enough to take my ear phone out and run in the street for certain sections. Does spookiness factor count as a point? :-)

Yay for wind warnings!!  Nice 30 minute 148 point run this morning!!

I feel like I'm getting jilted in the temperature category.  Always over 0 but feels like -6 or colder.... soon enough it'll happen...

Not too much cold weather here yet, a few commutes in the 20's some in the 30's.
Today was the first snowfall with accumulation. You could tell be the drivers and accidents out there. A little slick base so I was glad I chose to walk this morning.

Saw the pictures - so you can walk to work??? wow that is cool! Or are you like Mick Dundee and just go on walk-a-bouts throughout the day

Yup - my commute is just over a mile one way - days like today I LOVE MY COMMUTE!! Saw someone come in today and said it took him 2 hours to get here from Aurora.

Well it was a toasty 53 for my run this morning. Wish I had worn shorts. I think I may be at a disadvantage in this challenge, being in virginia.

ahhhh man. Looks like there are some competitors here this year. Just my luck I pulled up with a bum leg so I will be on the sidelines.

Best of luck to you all!

Sorry to hear about the bum leg. I'd hoped there would be a couple of us from Calgary. And from the postings I've read from this year and last year it seems like you're a legend in the Crappy Winter Weather Challenge.

I managed a 50 minute run at noon today (-9C) but my bike commuting times to drop off and pick up my car (at the dealer - better late than never for the snow tires) were 12 minutes and 16 minutes respectively so they don't make the 20 minute requirement.

It has warmed up in Calgary but I drove to a ski trail near the town of Banff where it was cold enough to pick up a few points. For November the cross country skiing is really good this year. Here are a couple of photos. Last year there was a bridge across this creek and the trail was around 4km longer. With the flooding in June in the Calgary area the bridge is gone - a lot of trails suffered severe damage.

Had a great run today at - 13 and a strong north wind. I actually prefer running colder because the snow has a lot more grip to it (they plow the roads here but don't clear them down to the pavement so I'm always running on snow in winter) when it's cold. I only run twice a week but should rack up some good points because of the temperatures. We don't have the chinooks like those softies in Calgary.
