Am surprised how few running stores sell fitting mock turtlenecks. I find that a mock turtleneck of decent thickness is absolutely the best underlayer for cold weather running (and biking). It's crucial for keeping out the draft that otherwise overly chills you when you sweat.

Surprisingly, they're really hard to find on running stores. They all sell loose fitting long-sleeves and jackets, but nary a form fitting mock turtle to be found.

Anyway, just noticing. If you find you want a good underlayer that provides warmth without bulk and moves well, I'd highly recommend a mock turtleneck - I've been running with them for yeras now (mine is 10 years old!) and it's still my go-to underlayer that provides most of the warmth down to 30F.

I have some from Sporthill that I use for cool weather running at home. They come in different thicknesses/materials with and without zips. You can probably order online (I live where their HQ is, so I can get to some of their end-of-season warehouse sales), and they usually have some previous year's designs on clearance.

Never had that problem here in the Great white North, almost every sports store or running specialty store will have UA , ICE Gear or asics Mock turtlenecks in a medium and heavy weight and UA Long sleeve Cold gear as well. A lot of people are not fussy on the Mock turtleneck style though they find them a bit restrictive in the neck when running once they get warmed up and prefer a flat round neck, I like them because I can tuck My balaclava down in the coller and it totally keeps the wind out.

TJ Maxx.

I found some fabulous cold weather training stuff there last year, including a couple mock turtlenecks that are very nice.

Hit or miss but can't beat the prices when you do find stuff.

The one I'm using and have trained with for nearly a decade, pretty seriously, is from - Target.

I'm not against sports-specific brands, but this one was honestly the absolute best one I've found. Unfortunately I haven't seen it there since, but the one I have is a perfect moderate weight for cool running.

Was surprised to look at the Brooks website and see no real ones offered.

Long underweary like stuff is also good as a cold weather top. I bought 3 Arctyrx tops and use them as an inner layer in the winter and a single layer in spring and fall. Snug, wick well, and look pretty decent as a shirt. !/4 zip for when you get warm. My 2 cents.

To avoid a myriad of injuries (joint pain to your knees, ankles, hips, shin splints, foot pain, bruises), it’s invaluable to find the right running shoes.
