Subject: Wife gets the flu the day before vacation.....

Posting this here as I plan on being the good, supportive husband, and not complaining about this at home so she doesn't feel worse, and can't do it n FB cuz she'd see it, but

FFFFUUUU%$#)%*#_%$#*+)#*%$+)#%+*!

Supposed to be flying to Panama and Costa Rica tomorrow night for 11 days.  Fairly expensive trip as we took a couple splurges we don't normally do.  Come back from my run this morning and my wife's car is there.... hmmm, she's in bed.  uh oh.  Says she just feels tired, gonna sleep some more.  Her temp is now up and she's thrown up.

FFFUUU $@_($&#_%&#_@(%&@#(_%&!

I so need this vacation and have been looking forward to it for months.  I know they may make accommodations... maybe, maybe not, it's the high season.... but the cancellation policies are basically 100% (as in, they keep 100%) except for one hotel that would charge for one night - of 10 - if we cancel now.  Also need to decide if I should cancel the upgrade offer for business class for the flight down.....

FFFUUU$#+)%*#+)%*#$+%*!

I have a friend that work that was on his butt for 12 days with the flu, so not like we can reliably rebook in a few days.

FFFUUU$#+)%*#+)%*#$+%*!

If she's puking, it's probably not influenza. Stomach bugs, while awful, are generally pretty quick.

Hopefully, hers will be!

Sorry to hear.

Same thing happened to us many years ago. Wife comes down with something just prior to leaving for Cancun. Says she doesn't want to go.

All I said to her was, well I'm truly sorry you are sick and there isn't much we can do to speed up the healing,
but would you rather be sick here in this sub zero winter temps or on a beach in Mexico?

We made our flight.

^^^ This.  Of course, if it's something like norovirus, then the timing is just about right for you to be patient zero on the flight down.  Look at the bright side, if you get it, too, you can start off your vacation with some excellent weight loss, and you really won't want to eat anything for a good 3 days afterwards.

Looks like this may be the ticket, she woke up feeling much better.   Has 14 hours now to get truly healthy

Thought about just going solo, but I've done a lot of trips without here, including costa rica, and this was sort of a taking her back to places I've been trip.

Hope she manages to perk up and all goes well.

My wife and I joke all the time that anytime we have a vacation planned or a big family event on my side she always manages to start her special time of the month at the beginning. I can't remember a trip with her that she hasn't had that happen.

She is leaving tomorrow to go to Hawaii without me for 2 weeks and this time she managed to get that out of the way early. I smell a conspiracy...
