Subject: Old guys in speedo's
I did my first tri in 2008 ,I missed 2013 all together and have done a couple a year. I have yet to go to a race and not see a couple old guys in speedo's. I mean, I am old I guess at 50, so these guys are 60's and so. I seen more of this one guys, A$$ this past weekend then I did of my wife's

Is this just a Midwest thing or is it all over? Man I hope it's not just me turning into a prude.

I forgot who said this quote, and it might not be exact but...

"Never trust a swimmer who is too nervous to be seen in a speedo."

I give kudos to anyone who is happy enough with their old bodies to wear a speedo in this day and age of youth at all costs

I was afraid this was going to be of those photo threads, like BT guys in suits or something.

There's an older gentleman, 70 something, I see every year and he always wears a red/white and blue (flag) speedo.  I've never seen him wear a wetsuit during the swim.  Includingh a race that's on Memorial Day with an ocean swim that is usually freezing.

There is an older guy, in his mid 60s now, who always races the local triathlon in a speedo, and only a speedo. He is quite fast and does very well in relation to the field, beating a lot of the young guys. Including me several times.

I keep thinking that one year I will pull out the speedo and do a whole race in it. Not brave enough yet but getting there. I just need a couple more years to get to that "I don't care" state of mind. (and I will have to shave a little higher-sorry-TMI)

I've been to several races where there's an older gentleman who races only in a green speedo with yellow rubber duckies on it. Hilarious, but I can count every rib, ab muscle and vein in his body. He's incredible and usually smokes most of the field. I said if I'm ever that good looking and fast I'll race in a grass skirt and coconut bra.

Yeah, I'd prefer old guys in speedos vs. old guys out of their speedos anyday.

I say go for it. I find that as I get older (now 60 y.o. female) I actually care less and less what other people think about how I look. I know I have loose skin where I didn't 10 years ago, but for me, it is about comfort and, if that means someone has to look at something they would rather not, that is their problem, not mine. That said, I won't be going naked in public anytime soon (unless on a nude or topless beach in Europe where sensibilities about those things are more advanced), but I have finally gotten to the point where I accept my body as it is.

I didn’t used to like to run slow. You begin to recalibrate your needs and wants and if-only you could jog an easy two miles, three times per week. Running is a gift.
