Swim
Comments: A little "weedy" at the start and finish. We were warned to get horizontal as soon as possible once the wave started and not stand up unitl we reach the mats at the exit due to the soft sand on the bottom (re: sink in the sand). Once you cleared the weeds and got into a little deeper water, it became very clear. Easy to see the bubbles from the swimmers in front of you. I found one guy doing about my speed and got into his trial and tried drafting for a while. Worked out pretty good. I passed him near the end. What would you do differently?: I think I may have been able to go a little bit faster. Transition 1
Comments: An average T-1 time for me. No problems. Coming out of T1, you had to run up a hill to mount the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Pretty tough course. Started out pretty flat but got hilly at about mile 5. Last hill on Shamrock road was a killer. Lots of people walking up the hill by that point. Very scenic course and mostly shaded. Transition 2
Comments: About a 30 yd run from the dismount line, through the timing gate to the rack, downhill, on wet grass.... It could have been ugly, but ended up not too bad. Took my time to take an extra shot of hammergel and a couple of extra endorolytes What would you do differently?: Not too much. There's always room for improvement. Run
Comments: Through the woods at first on a trail, a pretty significant downhill section followed by an uphill to really get the legs warmed up. After the woods, it was a pretty flat run out through the subdivision and back until the last 2/10ths of a mile which included two or three hills to climb back up to the finish. What would you do differently?: I defenitely think I should have run faster. I really felt it in me today but I was ruunning at a very comfortable pace and images of cramping kept lurking in my brain so I didn't want to push it until the end. Post race
Warm down: Got some food, relaxed and talked to JSZAT. Met ScoobysDad also a little bit later on. What limited your ability to perform faster: My first sprint, not too sure how hard I wanted to push. Learned that on a typical sprint, I should be able to push quite a bit harder. Event comments: This was a really nice race. The venue is really nice, the lake isnt a bad swim once you get beyond the weeds, the bike is a very challenging course and the run is a nice too. I would recommend this race. It reminds me of the BIGFOOT race at Lake Geneva. I think I will put this on the calendar for next year. Last updated: 2006-08-13 12:00 AM

Got up at 4am. Cindy is done in FL on vacation and all the kids spent the night at friends so I didnt have much to do except walk the dog, drink some coffee, eat some breakfast, make sure I had everything and then drove to the site.
Just some very light stretching and fast paced walking.
