This will be my 4th IM, but my first that doesn't rhyme with "Schmironman Schmisconsin". I plan on spending the next 3 months doing a balance of strength, core and speed work before transitioning back into base building after the 1st of the year. What are everybody else's plans?

Okay everyone. Sunday is just a few days away! Updates on training/ racing plans? I'm anxious to get up to Boulder. Tapering is making me a little Stir Crazy!

PSA: If you haven't seen these IM Boulder You Tube briefings for the SBR, they're worth taking a look at. A lot of helpful information:

Hey Boulder people!

I hope you're all ready!

Swim... it looks like it might be wetsuit optional. I am taking the option. I've been calling the Boulder Rez line and asking about the water temps. 76 degrees as of this morning 30 July 2014. There's no way it will be wetsuit illegal though. So pack your wetsuits!

Bike...I've ridden the bike loops and there is a pretty tough hill up nelson that you'll have to do twice towards the end of loop 1 and 2. It's a long steady climb and it sucks the wind out of your sails. Be cautious on that hill and don't let it ruin you as you enter the third portion of the race (last ~30 miles). Especially you sea level folks... yikes.

The run will have some small rollers but nothing crazy. I've been training in CO so all my runs have hills =/

I wish you all the best of luck! See you on the course!

Hope everyone did well. I was at 12;46, good enough for my 2nd IM in 10 weeks. Was anyone else's stomach a bit touchy after drinking too much lake water? I had to fight to get fluid and calories in against an iffy stomach all day after the swim. Grats to finishers.

Had a great race. Went for the "no wetsuit" option on the swim so I was a touch slower but felt pretty good. The bike was definitely the biggest challenge of the day for me (staying cool and I got behind on my nutrition during the second half). I wound up having a really good run (4:26 ish) and did a 12:24 overall which was on the pointy end of my goals. Feeling very satisfied with my first IM!

It was literally seconds after I started swimming that I felt the tightness in my chest. I couldn’t get a deep breath in due to the tightness of my wetsuit. I was being strangled by my wetsuit...

The Boulder Peak bike course is legendary. It is, literally and named as such, one of the toughest bike legs in the country.
