Extreme Veteran 707 pnw | Subject: How was your season? With the season winding down and ending with an IM, I just tallied up my racing/centuries for this year. 3- 5k runs 1-10k 1-12k 3 bike TTs- 6 mi, a 10mi and a 25mi 6 centuries 1 dbl century 1 sprint dual 6 sprint tri 2 Oly tri 1 1/2 IM and the final coming up in two weeks, a IM There were times when it seemed really busy and now that it is about over and I am looking at next year's goals it seemed too quick. |

Extreme Veteran 707 pnw | Subject: RE: How was your season? Start doing the 1/2 and full IMs and you be looking for a little down time afterwards I suspect. The long distance A race defines a season for me The final big push for the season ends my racing and starts another building session. The first of a long series is a 18 mile trail run, the second a 70 mile trail run. So you don't have to feel sorry for me |

So you don't have to feel sorry for me Consensus here has been that a marathon is much harder than an HIM, and after thirteen I still haven't found a reason why that would define/limit/end my season. IronMan I can understand, which is one of many reasons I haven't pursued that goal yet. |

Expert 702 Manchester, NH | Subject: RE: How was your season? Bear,Sunday - 1st HIM......Monday - Off.....Tuesday-Sloooowww jogging 2-4 miles.....Wednesday - track club day - did some 800's and 400's pretty much max speed, not the FULL track workout.....Thursday - AM 4 miles felt GREAT - Another 4 tonight?....I don't plan to be able to recover that quickly affter my marathon. Would you agree? So sad that tri season is coming to a close. I've got one sprint left, and a haloween duathlon. Winter sucks.... :-) But a good season! Edited by immyfish 2006-08-24 2:06 PM |

Extreme Veteran 707 pnw | Subject: RE: How was your season? Funny that...having done both myself. I would agree if for no other reason a 5+ hr, 1/2 IM is easier for me to recover from than a sub 4 hr marathon. Guess it would really depend on how fast you do either. |

Welcome, and good luck with that! |

Member 55 | Subject: RE: How was your season? This was my first year of triathlons. I signed up for 3 sprints and each were 3 weeks apart. First tri: 4/7 AG; 82/121 overall. Used an ancient heavy road bike just to see what this tri thing was all about! Second tri: 3/17; 87/236 overall. Moving up - got a new bike and started to figured out transitions. Third tri: 1/20; 42/196 overall (6th of all females!). I could not stop smiling! I will be running, running, and more running this winter. My goal is an Oly next year, if I can figure out how to run a 10k! All in all, I have had a blast. Triathletes are fantastic people, and the events have been so much fun. I can't wait to do more next year! |

Champion 10471 Dallas, TX | Subject: RE: How was your season? Not so good race wise. Training wise, I have had fun cycling and doing some OWS. I have been grounded from running since April 2006... I started back up recently, but can't even run half a mile straight. So, I have bowed out of paying fees to go to tri's knowing I would have to walk. So here is my race calendar: April- Sprint Tri. May- MS150 (135 miles in 2 days- took the short route Sunday) August- Riding Hotter Than Hell on 8-26, trying for the 100 miler September- Texas Man Sprint Tri. I *hope* to run some of the 5K. I signed up for this when I thought I would be up and running a 5K by then. Next year is MY YEAR BABY!!!! Edited by KSH 2006-08-24 2:32 PM |

Extreme Veteran 1491 northeast Ohio | Subject: RE: How was your season? This is my very first racing season ever! Had to come back from plantar fasciitis that developed fall of 2005. Now I am sidelined from running with an achilles tendon injury (but I can bike!!!!!!). Still, I have had a TON of fun in 2005 so far! 1 - timed stair climbing event 2 - 5k runs 1 - 10k run 1 - biathlon 1 - sprint triathlon 3 - bike tours (50, 78, 62 miles) I'll be trying for my first century ride in a couple weeks. Might do one more tour. As soon as I am able, I will be back to running local races (5k, 5mile, 10k). Running races go all year round. |

Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: How was your season? Helped a good friend and BT-er run her very first marathon and was as excited about it as she was. Was at the scene immediately when a good friend and BT-er crashed on her bike and helped to make sure she was medically cared for Helped a good friend and BT-er run her first 15-K. Volunteered at a race organized by a friend and BT-er. Finished an Ironman and gave my medal to a little girl battling cancer. I had a great year!

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: How was your season? Season winding down? Not for me...I still have 3 events left this year: an Oly tri this weekend, the Rock 'n Roll 1/2 mary on labor day weekend, and a Sprint Tri in October. I may do a 5k in November, too. But, so far my season has gone pretty well. I did a Sprint tri and cut 17 min off my first time, my first OWS race, first 1/2 marathon, and first 10k race. If I can finish all of the events I have scheduled, I'm going to be rather proud of myself. |

Regular 149 Minneapolis, Minnesota | Subject: RE: How was your season? I did a half marathon (my third) in February -- v. slowly. I started training in earnest in June. 5k in July 1st sprint tri last weekend, with a faster 5k time than my stand-alone race. I have my second tri scheduled for Sept. 16, and then I'll do the same half marathon I did last winter -- and I hope I'm faster and more comfortable! |

Did my first OLY, returned to the scene of the crime (aka the first tri I ever did), and did my first HIM. Either I lived to tell about it or someone has stolen my identity... I'd have to give the season 2 thumbs up! |
