Good morning BT! Up and at 'em early today. I have the rare day to myself as the fam bam are all away at football/volleyball scrimmages. I opted to stay home and organize a bunch of house stuff before we all head back to school.6:00am: 35 minute run with intervals followed by Insanity Core Cardio & Balance. Connor--congrats on the bump to varsity!HR--I've said it before, I'm the exact opposite build--curvy petite! At least I'm getting less curvy now that the Ironman training weight is starting to fall off. The curves are settling back to the right spots! Lol!Have a great day!

Top of the mornin everyone.

Got up early and ran 8 with my running group, followed by another papertowel "shower" at work where I'll be resting and recovering for the day.

Have a great one

28 mile bike - preview of the Westchester Triathlon course.

The roads are smashed to pieces.. Gonna have to think about racing this year..
It just seems so dangerous in certain parts.

Hello!
I started off my day this morning with an OWS, 20 mile ride, and 3 mile run. I'm glad to be back into a schedule instead of getting in a workout whenever I felt like it.

Hey there!

5:30- 40 mile bike ride. Seemed so short compared to the 80 miles I did last week. Back to normal volume next week!

Went to the gym today hoping to swim as the indoor pool was being serviced and wasn't sure if the 3-lane outdoor pool would be lap swim ready. Got there around 10:45 and NOBODY was out there except for a couple of sun-bathers. Pool completely empty! It was sunny, in the 70's outside and when I got in the pool the water was a little chilly. But not THAT chilly but chilly enough to scare all the noodle ladies and lolligaggers away. Middle lane all to myself, whohoo! Water was about 75 ish and it was a fantastic swim, about 3,300 yards with a strong 10x100 set in the middle. Water was super clean and very low in chlorine wish it was always like that.

Similar pool experience today....When I got to our school pool I had it all to myself as a few local staff were just leaving and kids' practice was earlier. They turn the heat off/down on weekends as the little kids aren't using it and there aren't lessons going on, just practice and lap swimming. Was maybe 1/3 of the way thru a 3K workout when a few more locals showed up--they left after about five minutes, though, saying water was too "cold". My guess is high 70's. It was a little chilly to get into (contrast with 96 degree air, probably) but perfectly comfortable for swimming.

AM 83 minute run with 2 X 2 miles at 10K effort. I was fine until I finished the second 2 mile and then just kind of lost enthusiasm for the last 25 minutes--getting really hot. Of course at that point I had no choice as was 25 minutes out from home! Really should have started earlier--this workout went really well when I started at 5:15 last Saturday due to other plans for the morning, but just hate getting up that early on a Saturday.

Now in the same boat--slept in again and about to go ride the trainer for 2 hours instead of MTB ride. Just can't get motivated for 5 AM on a Sunday when I don't have an actual tri until at least February and possibly May.

6 mile run in the smokey, smokey Portland, OR area this morning...The east winds came up today to remind us Portlanders that the eastern half of our state is on fire. Another reason to look forward to the fall rains!

30 minute easy swim while the kiddo had a lesson this afternoon.

Wow--maybe good I am not home in Oregon right now (smoke is an asthma trigger for me). Wonder if Eugene is getting it too. Headed off to ride the trainer.

I bet Eugene is better off than PDX; it's all the smoke funneling through the gorge right now that's killing us! Just guessing from some of your previous posts, though, the air quality where you are isn't always the best, either, right? Thanking my lucky stars I don't have asthma!

It's actually not too bad much of the time. I live at the edge of the city and very near a tidal river, so there's little industrial pollution and usually plenty of breeze. The problem tends to be (as in Eugene) periodic field burning to clear stalks between rice harvests (I think four per year) and to clear vacant land for construction (happens a lot as the city is growing in this direction). Aside from that, as long as one avoids major roads at peak traffic hours (like between 6:30 AM and 10 PM LOL), the air's not bad. It's generally traffic and heat (and laziness about getting up early to avoid them), plus a lack of anywhere safe/interesting to ride a road or tri bike, that keep me on the trainer. There are some great routes for MTB, but that group leaves at 6 sharp. Generally it's the trainer or a 4-mile loop around an industrial park. Within 2 to 2 1/2 hours, the trainer often wins out, since I can't watch videos in the industrial park.

The weather's beautiful here today, if you like it hot. Maybe high 80's, bright blue sky, strong breeze. Had a great brick run after the bike.

If you are able to honestly look at your routine and find the balance, you will be a happier person and a happier athlete as well.
