Pre-race routine:

Breakfast in Rangeley. Watch husband's race start. Ride with kid's down 1.1 mile gravel road to mid-lap point. Stay warm and dry.
Event warmup:

Ride up and down access road to get HR up and steadied.

Comments:

I beat L., for the first time this season! She is a much better technical rider, but I am better at uphills. Fortunately for me, the course wasn't very technical and it ended with a long slow grind uphill. We passed each other a few times in the beginning miles, then I dropped her on the first long uphill. I could see the woman ahead of me, and I was catching her towards the end, but didn't have enough time to make up the time.
What would you do differently?:

Take it faster on the first gravel road. I held back too much.

Warm down:

I was filthy, so cleaned up a bit and then ATE lots of food at barbecue in the rain.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

A really fun race. I think this was my favorite course of this series.

Mud...and dessert...it's all good!! LOl- Sounds like FUN! Glad you enjoyed- and did well...Held back by "fear"...hmmm...only weapon for that is ride lots! Congrats!
