409 Durham, North Carolina | Subject: Outer Banks or White Lake I'm looking into doing a HIM after around that time or later, but there's nothing local that I know of later in the year. I was wondering which one you all preferred? I tried to do a little digging and I'm just guessing here. Typically white lake isn't wetsuit legal right? I've seen one mention of the outer banks tri being wetsuit legal. Are the temps normally baking inland that time of year (wl) and cooler with ocean breeze at OB? All else being equal I would prefer wetsuit legal since I just bought one and I don't want my wife yelling at me, but I would rather do a clear lake swim w/ no current. I'm used to swimming OWS in the ocean in Florida so thats not a deal breaker for me. Any info that might help me make up my mind? |

I think lake logan would be too soon. I could really use that extra month right now :D. I've spent too much time focusing on cycling alone. I'm afriad I won't have time to be ready by then, or even September really lol. |

Elite 3683 Whispering Pines, North Carolina | Subject: RE: Outer Banks or White Lake You also have IMNC 70.3 (formerly Beach 2 Battleship). I haven't raced the OBX, but have done WL several times (int'l, sprint, and HIM) and it is a good race. Low key, flat, and not all that crowded. Weather leans towards warmer, usually no wetsuit, the bike can be windy, and the run hot. Good luck in your choice! Edited by d00d 2016-04-14 8:24 AM |

I think I could only really find your old reviews for WL :p I do prefer smaller races, but I think I might look up historical temps for the two areas and go for the cooler one :D. |

WL in Fall is usually warm...There have been a few times when White Bake would be more appropriate than White Lake. I don't know about OBX. Sorry about IMNC! I didn't know it was sold out. I signed up when it first opened and haven't really checked on the status since. Edited by d00d 2016-04-18 9:01 AM |
