Good morning BT!

4:30am:  :45 minute run: 1 mile WU/3X4 sets of incline repeats at increasing incline/speed/cool down

5:15am:  Upper body strength + core

I have decided to stick with the Oly--I certainly have the fitness for it and you're right Lake--working out in that Texas heat/humidity will be a help.  Where can a girl go do some naked cannonballs with some Texans?  Lol!

I know three weeks isn't much time to improve my fitness for the run, but I'm going to add in some shorter but more intense running workouts.  I think I've become complacent with the Long Slow Distance.  Time to shake things up.

Have a great day all! Last full day of school today!  Two more 1/2 days and we are out!

I think you'll be fine with the Oly. You have a decent base going in, and the vacation might do you good. Some of my best races have been after as long as 4-5 weeks of vacation with very little race-focused training. I think I tend to overtrain and maybe the rest was useful.

We also had our last full day (well, of kids) today. Half day tomorrow and then kids take off; sounds lie teachers are free at 2 PM or whenever it all gets done sometime on Friday. My kiddos graduated from Grade 5 today. This year's bunch was one of "those"" classes all the way from kindergarten, but they have grown up a lot. They also finished writing their "memoirs" and we sent the class book off to press. The flip side of having some challenging kids is that they're really original thinkers (dull kids don't tend to make trouble!) and are turning into really interesting writers!

Oh yeah, training--5 AM 1:10 of horrid, grueling FTP intervals. They were supposed to be 3 X 9 minutes but owing to epic math fail (maybe as heart rate too high?) one of them was 10 minutes!

5 PM--Chased the last party-hardy 5th graders out of the pool so I could do my 2500m workout (mostly 150's). Told them that if they stayed they would have to do my workout; got no takers for that.

6:10 - 2600 yard endurance swim, consisting of drills, breathing set, then speed/distance work. Was supposed to do core work, but the workout took so long, I skipped it. Will get it in after work.

Have a good day, everyone.

combo today of walking my daughter to school and running. totaled 3 1/2 miles.

Going to start weight training today. 16 weeks out before 2nd HIM and I need more speed. "We need speed. Speed's what we need. Greasy, fast speed!"

P.S. had 21 miles on bike yesterday.

3.6 miles, 33min, 8:39 on the first mile, 9:16 avg.

Been neglecting my run mileage as of late due to new job, heat and winds. Got up and out the door, no stretch, no warm up, just out into the wind and run! One of my very rare evening runs, had to get home before dark. At least it was nice and cool at around 85*, after a blistering 100* day.

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.
