Good morning BT! I'm sorry if my entries are all smushed together--I can't get my laptop to connect to the wifi so I'm starting the threads on my phone.4:30am--60 mins on the spin bike followed up with :40 minutes lower body strength stuff. Hoping to get into the lap lane tonight--doesn't look like anyone uses it.So far the conference is good! It's all about brain based learning--today we get to meet with neuroscientists and check out some brains--exciting stuff! Anyone racing this weekend? Karen glad you were reunited with Rover!

Just signed up for the olympic swimming pool that is located a half mile down the bike path right outside my apartment. The whole season is only 20 bucks! I'll be in the pool tonight!

5:29 - 1hr ride with a focus on practicing turns

Glad to hear you both have some good swim options! My son's pre-school has a doughnuts with dad tomorrow, so of course I need to show up. And, of course, I have a swim TT tomorrow. Thankfully, I can swim at TCU's pool (my son's pre-school is at TCU). I will be able to pretend I'm a college-caliber athlete, but my time will put that little fantasy to rest.

Rio Grand eh? Where are you that goes along the Rio Grand?

I knew my perfect pool was too good to be true! I came home early from work, ran the 0.6 miles to get there, hopped in, aaaaaand the water is over 90 degrees. Fuuuudggeee

I rode for an hour today. It's windy and hot today. It was a tough ride.

I am fortunate my pool is indoors at the gym and not used by many.

Hope you enjoy the conference and the brains!

Cold weather here (for summer)--high in the low 60's with a stiff icy breeze. It's hailed several times in the past two days, those dark clouds keep drifting over, and making me paranoid. But managed to avoid getting hailed on.

AM: 2600m of swimming, mostly in the sun (but cold wind). Forgot my water bottle and got out halfway through to get a drink and just about froze.
PM: 1:02 run with some fartlek pickups. It started out nice but clouded up and again looked like hail. High-tailed it back to the coffee shop where I'd planned to meet Mom; then it cleared up again while we were there.

Supposed to be getting some proper summer weather by Sunday--hoping to take Rover out for a spin then.

Well this morning I tried open water swimming for the first time (I've got a thread around here on that). I'll guess I only made about 200 yards before I petered out.

Once I got back and defrosted a bit, I did my 2 minute plank.

In the afternoon I hit the YMCA pool pretty pumped up to show that the open water didn't take anything from me. My main set was 4 x 500 meters with a 2 minute rest between. The pace clock was out of service, so I opted to do a fixed rest. I then added a bit for a cool down. My shoulders are telling me that that was a good workout.

Tomorrow our Y is having an informal 5k run/walk. Planning on getting a few miles in on that.

Have a great evening,

J White

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.
