JBrashear and I are doing the Texas Man Sprint in Irving/Dallas, TX!

It's my second and last race of the season... due to running injuries.

I got to do the pre-tri yesterday, and the bike course is solid with a few "inclines"... those inclines are certain to hurt a few riders *evil grin*.

Can't wait!!!!

Dodgersmom... thanks for being a volunteer!!!!

I'll be participating (not sure that I will be RACING) in a sprint tri this weekend.

First one for me as well, and I'll probably do horrible...1/4 mi swim, 17 mile bike, 5K run. I'm shooting for 1:45 finish (15 for swim, 1 hr for bike, 30 for run). I can complete the bike in about an hour (probably a bit less, maybe like 52 or 55 mins), and the run in about 25 mins. But, I wanted to tell myself that I can do it in about 1:45 or less...

Hey now! Be more positive! You are going to be "horrible"??? Come on now.

How about you say... you are going to try your best and put forth a strong effort... and your times will be exactly what you expect them to be... knowing your pace for all 3 events.

You may not be racing for 1st... but you are racing against yourself. Only be disappointed in yourself, if you get out there and don't give it your all.

My wife keeps telling me..."You need to actually train if you want to do a tri". I have put in about 500 miles on my bike (cause I like riding), about 5000m at the pool, and about 3 miles...that's right...3...

I used to be a competitive runner, and I can go knock out a 5K under 30 mins any given day of the week...

BUT, may not be able to do so after completing the other two events...

Well, there is this one portion where there is a nice long downhill... and you can really pick up speed on it. Be warned though, you will have to go BACK UP IT.

There is also this other portion on Royal where there is a "hill" that you will go up/down... and then you have to go over this overpass near the end... that involves a hill.

If you are strong on hills (well, Texas hills!), then you will be fine. I can see where weaker riders will get dropped on these hills though.

Sprint distance -- half-mile swim, 13 mile bike (VERY hilly), 5K run.

Did this one last year, so I'm hoping to see how I've improved over the year of training (was one of only 2 races I did last year).

Largest race I've done all season. Lots of waves (I really prefer the "mosh pit" type of start -- you know where you are in the pack).

Dave Scott's TexasMan (oly).

I won my AG at the sprint last year, but this year it's the state championship race.  So I'll stick with the lesser competition in the oly and try to win again.

Yeah, but what's your second race for that day??
