2600m swim this morning with masters. One of our long time swimmers is moving away tomorrow, so it was a kind of sad swim day. If the rain stays away, bike tonight. Was supposed to do it last night, but had a cortisone shot in my ankle yesterday and the doc said no workout for the rest of the day. He darn near broke my heart, as I had plans to take the new bike out for her inaugural ride. This afternoon...if all goes well.

Boot Camp this morning, and I ran there and back again. That run home is really torturous. And it was SUPER humid today.

Happy Hump Day!

45 min on the trainer - it was even hot inside.  So gooey.  N=17 for workouts in what is admittedly a recovery/down month with vacations, etc.  Just starting a 12-week plan that involves a lot of Bikram and 2-3 swim and bike workouts a week.  No particular goals, just stay healthy.  LOL

@Nicole - Playing beach ball in the heat can get ugly - I played in a tournament (Grandpa Used-to-be ) many years ago in weather like this, some real heat-related issues to several players.  I was OK but was a wreck for a few days afterwards.  Be careful.

Four of the male players in the US Open had to pull out of their matches yesterday due to heat related issues.

We won’t talk about how none of the women pulled out...:p

Brutal hour on the trainer (got home too late to ride outside) with mashing repeats. Intervals of high wattage, followed by shorter recovery. Kills me every time.

2250yds in the pool at masters, with flip turns and bilateral breathing all day long! Might not sound like much to our fish, but for me, it is a huge deal. I can do both independently for short periods of time, but I've never been able to do both at the same time for a whole practice. I still need a lot of work on the timing of the flip turns, but I'm getting there.

Anyone have big plans for the long weekend? I'll be doing a long ride tomorrow (hopefully), a long run Satursday, and a long swim on Monday--if the work gods and the weather gods play along with my plans, that is. Otherwise, I'll adjust accordingly.

OMG I know! Luckily it was only 2 hours and we all had plenty of water. Definitely could've gotten dicey!

Awesome job! Isn't it great to see obvious progress you are making?! Those small goals add up!

2400 yards in the pool this morning. It was tough but went by fast. Mike, if you are a morning person, you should join us for some swims! We meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:30/5:45am.

Gonna play some volleyball tonight, hopefully run tomorrow (although I have a late date so I might choose sleep), swim or run Saturday, and not sure about the rest of the weekend. I have a friend in town and we are going to a wedding Saturday, and I don't want to leave him alone too much. I can't believe summer is coming to an end!

1200 SCY at the outdoor pool dodging children who were repeatedly told by the lifeguard to stay out of the one swim lane out of three being used by someone exercising.  I hate swimming there during the day but it was the only time I could.  Now get off my lawn.

Finished up with a little dumbbell and core work.

Awesome, but short, bike ride this afternoon on my new bike (finally!!), followed by a less awesome, but still good run. New bike rides incredibly well and without any additional perceived effort (actually less perceived effort), I went 2mph faster than the last time I rode this route.

Aug workouts: 32 (forgot to report short run after yesterday's bike ride--too excited about the bike!)

Early morning strength training session to be followed this afternoon by a long bike ride. Some swimming friends who bike have told me about a great place to ride around here with little traffic and mostly flat roads, so I'm going to take the tri bike over there and see what she can really do (or, I guess, what I can do on her)! Followed up with a short brick run (ugh).

So close to my goal! Played some volleyball last night and went on a 3.5 mile run this morning. I went to bed around 2:30 so wasn't going to run this morning, but I woke up at 6am without an alarm so figured I would get it in. It's going to be a LONNNNNG day at work though. All I can think about is how hard I'm going to nap later lol

Went to Bikram again this morning, much better results but I'm still at like 10% vs. where I was, say, 4-5 years ago.  I feel better vs. like death afterwards, so that's a start I suppose.  Spin class and some ST tomorrow.  Might ride outside depending on the weather...I feel like I haven't been outside in months.

I’ll finish the month with 33 workouts. Managed to get in an hour bike (no run). I took the tri bike out on the road and man do I love it! I do not, however, love the saddle. It is not right. Will have to get it adjusted or swapped out soon. Tomorrow I’m going to a nice bike trail system about an hour and a half from here. I just don’t really have the handling skills to have this bike on the road quite yet (lesson learned today!).

Congrats on the new bike, Gretchen!!!! That’s so exciting!!

Still following everyone’s progress. Once I finish up this next week with the busiest work month I’ve had in a long time I’ll get back to it. Y’all are keeping me motivated!! Stay strong!

Took my tri bike out on a closed trail system. 47miles at above race goal pace. It was great.

Spin class, stair running, and some lower body and core work.  I'm sore today.  LOL

That Penn State - Appalachian State game took about 10 years off of my life last night (and probably induced about 2-3 too many beers...).

2:15 run this morning. Oh man am I tired! Cumulative fatigue, I think. I threw in an extra bike ride last week while maintaining all other workouts. Plus, work has been crazy. First half was done with the pup, who is slowing down in her old age. I brought her back at the 1:10 mark and carried on without her. That sure did make me sad, I'm pretty sure it is the first time she didn't make the whole run with me.

Nice ows with the swim club this morning. 2300yds at just under race goal pace. Felt really good and strong. Still working on sighting, but I swear I get better after 1000yds.

Not sure what my September goal for workouts will be since I will be in Europe for half of it. Leave next Sunday!

Went for a 3 miles run on Saturday. My goal is to run at least 4 days a week while I'm traveling, and maybe find a pool or gym to get some swim/bikes in, but that is low on my list of priorities. I think if I focus on the running I will be good for my tri on the 29th. I have a pretty good swim base and never really bike much anyway. It's just a sprint, and it's pretty flat so shouldn't be bad.

2000 yards in the pool this morning. Felt good, lots of speed. I feel I am getting ready more for swimming season than for this tri I have in a few weeks haha.
