Pre-race routine:

Training plan was a little empty on all aspects except for the run. No taper but took friday as an Off day. Also doing 80 day obsession beachbody workouts with my wife to strengthen core ect. Thursday was leg day
Event warmup:

Swam 200 yards prior to the swim start and did some light stretching
Swim
  • 05m 23s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 47s / 100 meters
Comments:

Haven't really worked on swimming at all this year. 2 swims in Jan and 2 in Feb. Short race so not much time to be gained here. Slower than my swim two years ago here but not to far off
What would you do differently?:

Outside of putting in the work, nothing
Transition 1
  • 02m 33s
Comments:

Longer Transition due to run to bike was pretty far. Shoes, socks, jacket, helmet, gloves.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 27m 53s
  • 9 miles
  • 19.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Haven't been outside for a bike other than today. Have only managed 3 trainer rides in Jan, 3 in Feb, and now 2 in March. Weather and work have not aligned for any outdoor rides, but things are looking up
What would you do differently?:

A few more rides and some longer efforts
Transition 2
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

New shoes and I didn't put the quick laces on. After three attempts tying my shoes I had to take off the gloves.
What would you do differently?:

quick trip to Dick's could have saved me 30 sec or more.
Run
  • 23m 12s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 38s  min/km
Comments:

Fastest run in a triathlon. Managed negative splits 7:37, 7:26, 7:17, and 6:41
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Ran to see a friend start their race, sat to long and cramped a bit

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The work I didn't put into the swim and bike. I did put more work into the run and had gains there

Event comments:

As always great early season Tri. 421 registered but turnout closer to 360. Weather may have scared some off.

I like the shirt and the visor. AG prize was nice too.
