Doing a sprint Duathlon on Saturday. First time ever I compete outside a 12 mile radius from my home. Going there the night before so I don't have to get up at 5am for a 10:30 start.

A Little bit nervous if I'm honest, this is outside of my comfort zone.

First time I do a duathlon too and I am wondering if it's a good idea to wear one pair of running shoes for the 1st run and Another one for the 2nd. Any advice/opinion on that?

Good luck with your race Nathalie!

For the duathlons that I've done, I always just use the same shoes - off in T1, back on in T2.  You don't have to worry about forgetting/messing with a 2nd pair (especially since this is an away race).  I'm assuming this is a standard distance duathlon - if it was some kind of extended distance, it might be a different story.

Have fun!  I always enjoy duathlons although there aren't many around where I am.  I'm one of those people who would rather run twice than swim once .

What is your logic for having two pairs of running shoes?

I would only bring the second pair if you anticipate that your shoes might get very wet during the first run or while you are out on the bike (i.e. if it's raining or the course is cross-country and wet). Or, of course, if T1 and T2 aren't in the same place!

Excellent question . My favourite running shoes are not very transition friendly (quick to take off but not to put on). The other pair is older and not as good. It’s a very short distance so they’ll probably do the job but I was thinking about wearing the new ones for the 5k and the older ones for the 2.5k after the bike.

Good points, thanks. None of them apply to my race though...

Well, I used both pairs in the end.
