I think this was my 2nd best swim ever, and I probably lost about 30' when a life guard cut in front of me to cross the race and help a swimmer. I felt good on the bike, definitely my best bike split, but my legs were a little dead by the run. I felt slow on the run, I was expecting to run about 8:15-8:30 pace so I wasn't that far off. Overall, I'm very happy with my times. =)

Sappho, yes I’ve done an Aquabike, back when I had a running injury and and to switch from a HIM, and definitely loved it. I don’t know that IM does that officially during an IM but I suppose I could just DNF after the bike. I’ll play it by ear! Heck, if the swim and bike times are close enough, I could power walk the run. ...have to get off work first..

1:10 on the trainer here in KY after simulator training today for work. Debating a short run, the weather is nasty out right now.
2 mile run yesterday after finishing my ride. The legs felt pretty good but lots of cramping, I think due to not much food or water during the drive.

Mostly my exercise this weekend was lifting wine glasses to my lips...so much wine. I did manage to get a little boot camp workout in Saturday morning, and roped one other girl into doing it with me. Had football when I got back yesterday. Ready to not drink for awhile.

Congrats, Riles!!

I talked to my coach about not having Sunday workouts. Good news: he was totally amenable to the schedule change. Bad news: he skipped my normal rest day (today) to make the adjustment! VO2 max ride and run on tap today...just as soon as I can get myself motivated to do anything (drinking coffee in my pjs right now!)

The man is trying to kill me. If I can lift my legs to get to my office, I'll be lucky. Still have a run on schedule for later this afternoon.

Nice work, Riles!

Back at it this week after recovery from the spine electrocution.  Feels OK - it takes a couple of weeks for full effect.  Got in 60' on the trainer this morning (TR "Pisgah" - 2 x (3 x 2' @ 125%).  That sucked.  Last interval went off the rails a bit.  Now headed to the pool in a few minutes for some swimming and strength training.  Looking forward to good week before we had to Orlando for Easter break.

2200yfs in the pool this morning—my first swim since February. It was rough. I can certainly tell I’ve lost strength and stamina in the pool.

It'll come back, probably pretty quickly.  The fact you through 2200 after two months says a lot.

i managed my first commute in weeks and back to logging my food. canal ride tomorrow so a chance to get some miles in! at last!

Only once did I puke on the dog!! (It is very windy and she was down wind). After that, I just called it a day and walked home. Not my best run.

Oh no! That sounds horrible! Hope you are feeling better (and your pup was able to get cleaned off, lol)!

Had a rough swim yesterday morning, in a good way. Lots of stroke. Basically did 12 75s IM order (fly back breast, free fly back, breast free fly, etc), then 4 x 100 IM "fast" (mine were not fast).

Also had a late football game last night so didn't get a run or boot camp in this morning and I am regretting that.

75' on the trainer at 6 AM, 3 x 15' @ 85%, 5' RBI @ 50%.  Plowed through it but ugh it was tough starting this morning.

That swim sounds brutal! Btw when you say football is it full Tom Brady esque or flag football, or actually proper football with a round ball played by the lovely Megan Rapinhoe for example???

1:10 trainer ride including 2x20’ @90% followed by a 25’ Z2 brick run. No vomiting today!! Mike said it, I’m running the injury and illness gamut lately...BUT...I’m hoping this means the rest of training is going to go really well.

Thought I posted this yesterday, but I guess I forgot to hit submit.

One of the fastest guys on my high school CX team used to say his idea of a good run was to run until he puked, then get up and run home... he was a little odd. By that standard though, you had a great run!

Congratulations on the great time improvement Riles.

I'm not going to do a full race report, but I did finish the half marathon last Sunday. Unfortunately I found I could only manage 5km running (walking aid stations) whilst keeping my heart rate low. I tried to run/walk for another couple of km, but every time I tried to run the HR would shoot back up almost instantly. (Not scary high or anything, just above the low heart rate limit I've been set for now) So the end result was a lot of walking, and my slowest HM time ever (outside of half ironman's) on what should have been one of the fastest courses in the country.

It was by far the most frustrating HM I've ever done, knowing that I had more to give, but not being able to do so.

Finally, to add insult to injury, or rather injury to insult, I hurt my right lower leg so have been off running longer than planned to start the week. Although I suppose that trying to do a half marathon with virtually no training for the previous 5 weeks was asking for trouble.

We're off on a family holiday to visit with my sister inlaw in the the south island for the easter. So that should be nice to get away. And they live rural, so looking forward to getting to go for a jog in a different part of the world for a few days.

Andrew - you too!  That HM sounds really rough but at least you know you're holding back for the right reasons.  The Easter getaway sounds perfect!

I've just been running this week.  Haven't had the desire or time to get on the bike...

Roubaix was interesting this year!  Full gas start to finish, no one would let the break go.  And, could Philippe Gilbert be the next Tom Boonen? 

Also - it took me 3 nights to watch the whole race.  6:45 of coverage including the neutralized start and all the podium ceremonies.  And people think it's hard to watch an entire 9 inning baseball game....sheesh!

Beer of the Week, Victory Cloud Walker hazy IPA.  I was so spoiled for choice and quality in the NEIPA/hazy IPA space in Massachusetts, and there's been quite a lack of it here in Florida.  We're starting to get national releases like this but it's like eating a hamburger when you want a steak.  The meat is the same but....

This is one of the better ones, as far as the wide releases go.  Much better than the Sierra Nevada one, and a little better than Bell's Official.
