Pre-race routine:

Mark Bob and I got up around 6:20 or so... Not easy considering we got to the hotel and went to bed at 12:30 after getting our bags from the delayed flight. Bob knows San Francisco so he was our official guide. We stayed in the middle of the city so Bob drove Mark and I down to the wharf and we checked in and listened to people's take on the event.
Event warmup:

The organizers had music playing and people were milling all around... a few brave souls had jumped in for a dip and a warm up. Bob showed up after parking and we went to meet RLK, his cousin Alison and Rich's friend Nate. It was fun meeting another BTer! Then we made our way down to the ferries. Such a nice day!!

Comments:

Mark and I stuck together on this... Once I jumped in the water and waited for him, we started swimming out of the crowd. Every 5-6 strokes I would look for him and slow down or adjust course. A guy on the boat told us to stop in the middle and take a look around so we did. SF is a cute place! We stuck together through the whole thing... Mark wasn't sighting anything so occassionally I would bump him over with my hip in the right direction... It was a nice easy swim. We got out of the water together and have the same finishing time.
Post race
Warm down:

Bob met us on the beach with towels. We rinsed off then changed right there and made our way to the car to go grab showers.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I wasn't interested in fast. I just wanted to enjoy the swim and did.

Event comments:

Nice swim!

A friend of mine has done that before.  He said there were all types of swimmers, wetsuit types, speedo types, and naked types....
