Subject: RE: 05.03.2019 Frisky Friday Training Big news is that I RAN today (well, jogged would be a more accurate description ) for the first time since February 16. (Really--not a single step since then. ) I have been walking a lot, though, 1-2 hours pretty much every single day except the day of surgery and day after, and hitting the bike trainer with some degree of intensity 6X a week since late March, so at least my legs are not totally shot.
Total of 30 minutes of running within 40 minutes of run-walk around a bunch of sports fields at the park. Followed by a 45 minute trainer ride.
For now, screw brick runs. I probably fell in the race because my legs were too tired from biking to "brake" after I tripped--56 miles on a rough, hilly, windy course on a poorly fitting rental bike that was killing my back and girly stuff at that. I don't really recommend Challenge Wanaka to anyone--just take a nice trip, enjoy the hiking and wine tasting, and do the respective legs of the race solo or with a buddy on two or three different days at a leisurely pace to enjoy the scenery! What I should have done instead of train the whole winter just to injure myself and ruin a whole season.
I'm not planning any triathlons this year anyway at this point, so going to avoid brick runs until/unless I do enter one, and use my runs as warmup for trainer rides. Edited by Hot Runner 2019-05-03 5:55 PM
