Subject: RE: Rookie Training Post 02/10/20 Originally posted by vuk87 Howdy all First time posting what I did this morning. Love this concept. I was an athlete in college (tennis). Burned out after graduating and 11 years later I have the urge to do a triathlon for some reason. Race is on March 8th and have put in 2 weeks worth of training thus far. Today's workout: 35 mile bike in 1 hr 8 minutes (no clue if this is good or bad time but it's what I could manage) 2,000 meter swim in 45 minutes immediately following On we go! No morning work out for me today, but i sware I will get something in before the day is over. My wife had surgery on Thursday so there has been a lot of juggling going on. This morning I had to take a kid to a doctor's appointment and then drive them to my brother's place an hour away where they will be for the rest of the week. I am holding my breath that all will go well so my wife can come home on Friday. She was released from the hospital on Friday, but due to the type of surgery she had done has to stay 30 minutes from the hospital for the first (and we liver 3 hours away in rural USA). vuk87, Were are glad you are posting y9our workouts. It is a great way to establish accountability for yourself and to motivate others. Yes, 35 miles in 1hr 8 minutes is flying. That converts to 31 MPH. There is a half-mile downhill section on my outdoor bike loop with about a 7% grade and on days that I am feeling really good I will ride down it heard to see how fast I can go. I typically get up to about 31 MPH. My typical speed over a 1 hr 8-minute ride is around 20 MPH. My best race time in at the Olympic distance Triathlon (25-mile bike ride) was just under 1 hr 8 minutes. |
