Holmsjo, Kronoberg
Sweden
Total Time = 58m 24s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = Female-all ages
Age Group Rank = 3/41
Pre-race routine:

3rd time I do this race. Time to beat was 58:29 from 2018.
Last year's attempt had started well but I collapsed on the run. I was determined that it would not happen again
Swim
  • 07m 22s
  • 326 meters
  • 02m 16s / 100 meters
Comments:

a very chaotic swim, arms and legs everywhere for most of it, only found some space near the end.

much slower than last year (47sec ) but happy not to have been kicked unconscious and drowned.

slower than 2018 by 7 seconds

What would you do differently?:

not start in the middle, I know that! Rookie mistake!

Maybe not wearing a wetsuit this time was a contributing factor too, even on such a short distance. (wore one in 22 but not in 18)
Transition 1
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

a slow transition for me, not sure what went wrong, 20 seconds slower than last year, despite to having to get out of a wetsuit , 30 seconds slower than 2018
What would you do differently?:

not sure
Bike
  • 32m 48s
  • 16.7 kms
  • 30.55 km/hr
Comments:

They changed the bike course due to road works on the usual so difficult to compare. This one felt easier and was about 700m longer.

Had a good feeling the whole time.

2 seconds faster than 2018 and 24 slower than last year
Transition 2
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

Another slow transition, problems putting my running shoes on, had to sit down (and swear)

10 seconds slower than 2018 and 13 sec slower than last year
Run
  • 14m 56s
  • 3 kms
  • 04m 59s  min/km
Comments:

Last year, the fun ended with the run. This year, it went really well. First time under 5 min/k in anything longer than one km.

Great feeling the whole time. I knew that I would not win as the winner (a 20 yo elite athlete having fun) had already crossed the finish line, the runner up was too far to catch up and the 4th far behind but I still pushed as hard as I could.

3:04 faster than last year's debacle and 48 seconds faster than 2018
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, my best run ever.
Post race
Warm down:

chatted with 2 peeps from my training groups, one of whom won the men's oly

got to stand on the podium with my hockey team's "2023 champions" T-shirt (as I did in 2018)

Event comments:

fun village race

Great race, Nathalie - podium!!!  Sounds like you paced perfectly and had a great run, despite your apparent unusual-for-you picnics in transition.
