Subject: Hello I thought after couple of months of lurking, then joining BT - and lurking - I should get into the mix.
I did duathlons and triathlons in high school, but in the past twenty years, I have done more heavy weight training and put on considerable mass. Two years ago my right knee began to give me trouble during running and then lifting. I stopped both and all of my activity went to pot. I blew up to 352 lbs, and could not think of anything i enjoyed doing to get back into it.
My brother and friends of mine have completed the Wyckoff triathlon in NJ in recent years and it sparked a fire in me. I really enjoyed them long ago and training for them removes the monotony of exercise for losing weight. I have a better goal.
I have been training for a little over 2 months and I am down to 308 lbs. I bike and swim well, and really enjoy them both. One month ago I purchased the chi running materials that i found from this webiste and I have not had a remote sense of joint pain in my knee since. I really enjoy running (well, jogging ) again.
I am dong a super sprint in Clermont, FL on Oct 21, and I have completed that length a couple of times so i feel good about it. My big goal is the Wyckoff Triathlon in June 2007.
I have been logging my info on the site for a couple of weeks and I spend a lot of time here reading and trying to implement what i can at this point.
I LOVE the site and thank you for sharing your thoughts here, I am inspired.
